To day will be my 3rd visit to the pain clinic where a very nice nurse will come at me with her needles in the name of acupuncture...

The 1st week she managed to stick 9 needles in different area's of my body ad then asked me to lay back and relax all i could think about was how the hell did i agree to this?

It was so painful and just as the pain went off in comes the nurse to twiddle the needles and wake them up again...

I must admit that i did have 2 goods days after the treatment but not sure if fibro was giving me a holiday or this treatment really does work...???

My 2nd session was worse she only managed to get 5 needles in, the right side of my body was just to painful, i did'nt realize the amount of damaged the mini stroke had done to my right side..

Well it's session 3 and i'm a very opened minded person but i'm really nervous about today!!!!

Have any of you had this treatment? and how did you feel?

Was it painful to start with?

Please say it gets better lol .....

Love and hugs to you all on this painful very wet day.

Hi ,

yes I did and unfortunately, though it did start to work, the pain clinic said the results were too slow and they felt it wasn't really helping. I did have a good day after each treatment though. I think continuing with it will be worth it so I hope today goes well for you.

Hugs

I hope this third session has been more successful for you. I have electronic acupuncture so no needles. It actually makes me initially feel worse for a few days and then I realise I am moving more easily. I have seen programmes where they have gicen acupuncture to dogs who have been hardly able to walk and it seems to have done them alot of good so I feel that as an animal doesn't know what is being done so it can't just be given a psychiological lift there must be something in this acupuncture. Keep us updated on your progressx

Hi Viv

I had acupuncture many years ago for treatment on my neck (cervical spondylosis) and although the doctor went home one time leaving me with a load of needles in I kept trying as it seemed to be helping. I attended the acupuncture clinic as part of my doctors practice for quite a few months.

The only reason I stopped the treatment was because the doctor left the practice and started a private clinic which has done very well but I was and am still unable to afford the price he charges.

But yes I do believe it gave me some help at that time with the symptoms. I have had two operations on my neck since then and I must admit the acupuncture is the less painful of the two.

Take care and kindest regards.

Hi bren876

I think that is wonderful that you managed to get a couple of good days after this? I think with anything like this we have to weigh up the pros and cons, and ask ourselves if something was worth it? But it sounds like the suffering was not in vain in your case?

I had a few sessions of acupuncture last year and it did not help me at all, I am sorry to say.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Thank you all so much for your messages, your very kind.

Well she did manage 11 needles yesterday but again the right side was to painful also my left wrist shoot pain throughout my body so she had to take it out very quickly...

Good news is my lovely nurse needle is on holiday for 2 weeks, It'll be very intresting to see how my fibro reacts to not having the treatment for 2weels.

big sunshine hugs to all and i really hope that your all having a lovely pain free day.

Its been about 10-11 yrs since i tried acupuncture. Initially it was tried all over my body but we then worked out it only really helped my neck and right shouder. They even trained my husband to insert the needles. As they were in 'safe' areas they were happy for him to do it and it meant i could continue with the treatment after the six sessions at the hospital. There wasn't any indiction as to whether it worked or not at least until week four. Its crazy when they know that but still dont give you enough treatment at the hospital.

I dont remember them coming in half way to 'tweak' the needles. I was laying on my side, which at the time i could manage, but now having both hips replaced i cant, nor can i lay on my front, but i would love ’muchly’, to try again as my neck is getting bad again.

I was amazed that i went from not being able to move my neck to being able to look up again, although it did take longer than the six sessions. It wasnt as successful with my shoulder but did dull the pain a bit!

I wish you luck with your sessions and hope you reap the benefit. I know its been a long while now, but i dont remember it ever being too painful.

Take care xx
