Does anyone else suffer from a more or less constant sore throat? I had an upper respiratory infection last year in about October/November and then I got a chest infection. I had antibiotics for both episodes. My GP said the cough from the chest infection would take several weeks to clear after the infection had gone, as it takes a while for the inflammation in the lungs to heal. I still have a sore throat and now have another head cold. It just seems to go on and on. I realise that with Fibromyalgia our immune systems are compromised. Would be interested to hear how other people deal with the constant sore throat if anyone has the same problem. Many thanks. Gentle hugs Saskia XX

Sore throats.
Hello Saskia,
I just wanted to say whenever I get run down & fatigued whether I have had a cold or not I get a constant sore throat. It only improves as I manage to pace and get to a point where I feel i'm at an optimum level of health for me. This is I believe usually more commonly a symptom in M.E, however I've never had a diagnosis of M.E !
I always have a bottle of Covonia throat spray at hand as prescribed by the doctor and I know your probably thinking 'Yuk' Convonia cough medicine however it isn't as that bad. It the only stuff apart from Difflam spray that ever helps this severe constant sore throat which is very similiar feeling as when I had Glandular fever, which is what is considered to be the cause of the Fibro in my case.
I'll be interested others replies to your post

Hi Emma, thanks for replying. Actually I love Covonia cough mixture!!! It is good for coughs but doesn't take the edge off the sore throat. I am interested to hear that sore throats are commonly associated with ME. My mum had ME for the last few years of her life. I didn't know that Covonia did a throat spray. Is it only available on prescription? When I asked my GP about the sore throat and if it was a symptom of Fibro. he just smiled and didn't give me any answer. I wasn't sure if he just wasn't really interested or if he just didn't know! I have heard of Difflam spray. Does that help ease the pain? I am just concerned that the sore throat never seems to go away which is a bit of a pain especially as I sing in a large choir when I am well enough to attend rehearsals. Thank you for sharing this info with me and, like you, I am interested to hear what other people have to say. Let's I hope I get a few more replies! Gentle hugs, Saskia XXX
Hello Saskia,
The Covonia spray I get on prescription but whether it is only prescribed I couldn't say, might be worth ringing the local pharmacy. I, as I say get it more when tired & fatigued so maybe it might be worth looking at your sleep pattern too?
I hope you have a good night tonight

Thanks Emma. I'll check this out at the pharmacy. My sleeping patterns aren't good and I am always tired so perhaps that is partly the cause of the sore throats. I appreciate you and Ken ( below ) responding to me. Bless you. Hope you have a good night, too. Gentle hugs Saskia XX
Hi Saskia
I am so sorry to read that you have been having this problem on a constant basis. I have this quite frequently when I am feeling tired and fatigued, but I think mine is due to the fact that I use at least three kinds of oral inhaler on any given day. Since I take each one up to four times daily I build up a powered lining at the back of my throat.
I sincerely hope that you can find some resolution to this problem.
All my hopes and dreams for you
Ken x
Nice to hear from you Ken and I appreciate your kind response to my question. I am sorry that you have to have 3 oral inhalers and that these cause you to have a sore throat. We are all between a "rock and a hard place" aren't we with all our medications, some of which have side effects. I do hope that you and your wife are managing reasonably well between you. Take care. I'll keep in touch. Hugs Saskia XX
Hi first got cold then throat and bronchitus antibiotics once,a constant cough then to top it all inflamation at top of wind pipe and digestive tract.it seems to be one after another.even my eyes are red i know how you feel.i hardly go out when i do i always catch something.but i am keeping positive and taken up knitting baby clothes it takes my mind off it.
Hi Ribbonpink. Thanks for responding to me. So sorry to hear that you also suffer with one infection after another and also with the dreaded sore throats. I think with Fibro. we must have very weak immune systems. I bought a throat spray from the chemist yesterday. Haven't tried it yet but will do. If that doesn't help I am going to see the GP as this is really getting me down now. Knitting baby clothes sounds like a nice hobby. Are the clothes for your children or grandchildren? I haven't looked at your profile (if you have one) so forgive me for asking. Take care. Hugs, Saskia XXX
