Is anyone taking duloxetine to control fibro symptoms?
I do take it, but is also for depression as well x
I take Duloxetine and I find it makes a good difference but I needed a high dose of 90mg a day to achieve pain relief. My Pain consultant suggested it.
for me, it helps a little towards pain, little towards sleep, great for bladder probs!
I started taking Duloxetine after Amytriptylin stopped working for me. Mostly it was to help with sleep, which doesn't always work, but have noticed that it has helped to lift my "spirits". And that is a huge bonus.
Hi Charlie, don't know if this will help but I changed from taking in the evening to taking with breakfast, which seemed to help. Also take 60mg.
I take duloxetine too, however am being faced with difficulties getting it. Have been to numerous chemists to be told the same thing, difficulties in getting supplies
Hi Charlie,
I take it too 60mg in the morning, it keeps me awake if I take it at tight. I have felt a lot better since I have been on it, about 1 year, I think it just makes you feel better in general, more positive.Hope it works for you
Thanks everyone for your helpful replies. I was diagnosed with fibro last year and prescribed with duloxetine 120mg daily, taking 60mg in the morning and another 60mg at bedtime. I had a lot of trouble recently titrating down to 60mg once a day, which works well for me. I take it in the mornings. I have a complex medical history because of cancer treatment three years ago and long term after effects, including major abdominal pain that was resolved in August this year. Now I'm titrating off the opioid medication that I was prescribed for that pain condition. I aim to be free of opioid dependency by March 2014. Over the past few months, I've reduced my dose of fentanyl opioid from 100 to 25mcg/hr. I had major withdrawal symptoms along the way so my GP prescribed mirtazapine 15mg to ease restless leg syndrome etc. I wanted to take the minimum possible dose of duloxetine because it's so similar to mirtazapine. I need to keep taking duloxetine because it works so well for fibro pain. I had a huge flare-up earlier this week when I dropped my dose down to 30mg. I seem to be okay if I take 60mg in the morning, as many of you are doing tool Thanks again. I feel more confident now about sticking to this dose. And it's 50% less than my original prescription. That must be a good thing!
It's 12 days since my last post. I couldn't get my fibro flare-up under control until I went back to taking 120mg of duloxetine a few days ago, as originally prescribed by the rheumatologist who diagnosed me. I take one 60 mg capsule in the morning and another at bedtime. It's an anti-depressant but it seems to work on my pain centres and doesn't control my depression. The mirtazapine helps with depression and sleep. I'm feeling much better now.
