I love the little birdies in the garden. What's the most unusual bird you've had feeding?

I sometimes get a greater spotted woodpecker in the winter and occasionally black caps.

Ooh let me think a yellow hammer, all sorts it is very popular they must tell each other when I change or add food suddenly they are battling for it :)

We have been getting a flock f long tailed tits for the past 3 winters. The book says that they rarely visit gardens so I dont know what we are doing for them to get more each year, hubby says they are back with about 30 of them . I havnt seen them yet as they visit twice a day and never stay for long.

We get redwings coming through at about this time, you can tell as they strip the rowan tree of all the berries. I've seen a Greater Spotted Woodpecker doing his stuff on the telegraph pole I can see from my bed, so odd but I suppose as it's wood it must have little insects in it. My friend in Barrington where I was staying last week has about 30 ( I'm not kidding, it has been more) doves who sit and destroy her thatch then they get fed and even take from your hand, but she has so many feeding stations for the birds it must cost her a fortune, but it does bring all sorts in. I loved it in the spring/early summer when the blackbirds would bring their babies who had fledged but still stood with their beaks wide open expecting to be fed, and then gradually they got the hang of popping through the cage thing (to keep the doves and squirrels off) to feast for themselves :-) Although they are beautiful in many ways, we have a lot of buzzards around here who I'm not so fond of for obvious reasons :o

Lovely. I am just waiting for hubby to finish my bird table. I have a bird feeder that fits onto my window but a table would be better for the bigger birds.

I get a lot of birds in the garden. Mostly Blue Tits, Sparrows, Starlings and Magpies. A few days ago a little Robin began visiting, but the most unusual one to visit has been a little Goldfinch, so pretty.
