Hi everyone I suffer with ringing in ... - Fibromyalgia Acti...
Hi everyone I suffer with ringing in my ears sometimes I go deaf !! Does anyone suffer from sensitivity to low pitched noise at night ?
Hi there,
I suffer from a humming/ringing noise in my right ear, at night too, my GP reckons it's probably there all the time, but its moer noticavle at night because its all quie.t
Anyway, mine is tinnitus, which I believe can be a symtom of Fibromyalgia, earplus wont help though as the noise comes from within! It is very annoying I know that much, I kept thinking someones car alarm was going of in the distance all night at first but sadly not! As for the Tens machine, persevere, they can be complicated, but you might get some relief from it, mine helps with my back ache, but it automatically switches off after 30 mins which can be a bit annoying especially as I keep forgetting how to programme the darn thing!
It would probably be worth mentioning the ringing in your ears to your doctor, just to be sure, and good luck with the tens machine!
((((Hugs to you))))
Hi,
I hope you don't use the TENS machine on your head at all ! It is great for helping with pain. Just stick the pads in the area it hurts i.e. either side of an aching knee and switch it on until the pulses it sends out are comfortable but distract the pain signals. Your practice nurse or physic will also help you learn to use it.
You might find taking magnesium supplements helps with the sensitivity to noise. Some people also find listening to 'white noise' very helpful
Hugs

Hi, I have two TENs machines now as I lost the first one and urgently needed it as my back was so painful. Ask your doctor who you can get help with this - maybe your pharmacist can help? Maybe rewrite the instructions so you can remember? It is a big help to me. If its not working you may have pads not properly placed or stuck.
Regarding the titinitus, I have this too and its really bothering me at the moment. I find having my earplugs in and listening to a meditation where they play music and talk you through. Gets me to sleep and helps with the noise. You could download this to your iPad or MP3 player. I got one of the latter from Tesco and only have this type of music on it. Trouble is it keeps needing to be recharged everyday. My iPad is better, it lasts longer.
Good luck.
I have tinnitus too and when I am on my computer at night or in bed i am sure i hear music playing.
I had it sound like a tune when trying to get to sleep a while back anbuma ..... it's very weird isn't it ?
something else to tell dr????
Perhaps not really, I think it's probably a fairly common thing with tinnitus, but you could run it past him, doesn't sound like he's the greatest of listeners tho, sorry.

I have noise distortion in my left ear. It is not there all the time, but when it comes it is very high pitched, I get dizzy and disoriented, start sweating and feel like I am going to be sick. It can last for 5 minutes or up to half an hour. It use to come on when I was in a crowded or noisy environment, but now it just comes and goes with no pattern. I stumble quite a lot, and my doctor and ENT consultant thinks I have developed Menieres disease. My hearing has reduced and I have been given hearing aids, and will be attending hospital tomorrow for the results of an MRI scan.
As I posted recently, I too have tinnitus, but mine has become high pitched, and the more high pitched it gets the more infuriating and intrusive it becomes for me. I have been surprised by the number of people here who have tinnitus too.
I tried using a TENS machine ages ago for my back, neck and shoulders, unfortunately it didn't do anything for me, but I hope that you may get some relief from it ..... as Jilly said, just don't use it on your head !!

Low-pitched, yes, no reason yet! Audiology fine, and no tintenitus. But have other vestibular injury - possibly similar?
I also have a high pitched noise in my right ear I have it all the time but it seems to get louder through the day
I also wear a earing aid in my left ear it some times helps with the high pitched noise in my left ear it saves having to turn the volume up on the tv every one complains that the tv is too loud it s one of the things that really gets me down
I was sent to a special therapist for the tinnitus back in 2004. She told me that what we are hearing when we have it is sounds created in our brain by normal electrical brain functions. Most people most of the time do not notice them. Stress will cause us to become much more aware of these subtle sounds and to perceive them as loud. This is all true IF you have been diagnosed with tinnitus and not some other type of condition, I believe. She gave me a white noise machine and a pillow speaker that I could keep. I also used the type of meditation tapes that someone else here mentioned. They did help quite a lot. I find that mine will increase if I think about it or if someone mentions it... like now. That would indicate to me that it's our awareness of the noises that changes. In any case, when my symptoms are very bad, it really cranks up. When I'm resting and feeling not so stressed by pain and exhaustion, I don't notice it anymore.
