Does anyone else suffer from severe jumping just as about to go off to sleep ?

Used to be once or at most twice before I went to sleep but last night it happened 5 times. Each time it is a complete body jolt which leaves me wide awake with palpitations.

lol - it's not funny, but this is one of many reasons that my husband refuses to sleep in the same bed as me cos I wake him up too!

On a serious note, I have learned to find a position where I won't roll even the slightest bit which helps, and then I go through the relaxation techniques to make sure none of my muscles even a little bit tensed.

Haven't told him though cos I get the whole bed now ;o)

Yes i get it constantly every single night and i can't get to sleep with it at all i just don't know the reason behind it my guess is that my mind is still in overload while my brain and body tells me to sleep lol

my hubby says the same he said i keep him awake all night and yeah barbykins i feel as i'm gonna hit the ceiling with the way my body jolts

Hi Barbykins, Yes I get this sometimes, I am vaguely aware of it just as I am drifting off (on those rare occasions I can get to sleep!) but my boyfriend told me I also jump and lash out sometimes in the middle of the night. I think it is very common and can happen to anyone but is more likely in Fibro sufferers. x

Thanks everyone - pity I can't have that much energy during my waking day.

Hi i used to suffer quite badly from this, sometimes it felt as though my whole body was jumping, it was very uncomfortable and a little scary. my doctor prescibed me with gabapentin and they stopped alltogether. Obviously what works for one wont work for every one but maybe worth bearing in mind .

Hiya, yep me too,my body jolts, my heart races and it takes ages to calm down, always happens in that small time between starting to drift off and being fully asleep. Dont think its anything to do with my meds as it started long before I started taking anything.

Hiya, yes, me too. My boyfriend says I twitch all night and I occasionally experience the body jolts. Also recently I've been getting agonising cramps in the middle of the night that jolt me awake. Yes, Babykins, I wish I had that much energy in the day too!

I too suffer this jolting just as im drifting off. It is so annoying especially as it can take an hour before i can get comfortable enough to start drifting off. I keep moving about and find if one leg rests on the other this will make my leg hurt or my arm resting across my body will hurt. I thought hard about 3am one morning and decided that i should try sleeping in the recovery position. Make sure you are tired before going to bed, lay in the recovery position, no limbs over-lapping then (and this sounds daft) say goodnight to your body bit by bit starting at toes, feet, ankles, shins etc It is calming and relaxes you and hopefully you wont get up to your neck. It doesnt always work but is always worth trying. Good Luck

I sleep in the recovery position too but turn many times during the night to get circulation back into the numb areas.

Just a quick question.... are you on Gabapentin???? I have only experienced this since I started taking a high dose of this drug for pain.... coming off of it now though as too many side effects and my better half is getting fed up of me walloping him for no reason (though if he's p'ing me off I use the spasms as an excuse to get my own back lol!)

Not on Gabapentim but have just swapped from Citalopram to Duloxetine - hasn't happened for a couple of nights but I have been so exhausted I went straight to sleep.

i do this and also once a sleep can experience that dreadful feeling of falling and you know what they say if you hit the floor. just be humorous. yes i suffer as you do. it horrible. husband prefers to sleep in another bed now became of it. xx so glad
