I have omeprazol for acid reflux. I know when I'm going to be bad with it as I cough all night as the acid comes up. I also take my meds at night to prevent this happening. Good luck and hope you feel better soon x x

I take Lansoprazole, but it might be worth having a word with your GP. I had a situation where the symptoms became worse, despite the Lansoprazole. Apparently I had H-Pylori, which was quickly dealt with, so it might be worth mentioning to your GP, just in case the cause isn't just reflux.

Good luck

Hi,

I have omeprazole also. I take one each morning. I also avoid foods I know will trigger the acid - for me certain types of choc (Cadburys - boohoo), fizzy drinks, rich tomato sauces, spring onions and citrus fruit. I'm sure there are others, but bit drowsy at the mo. Still coming around this morning.

Hi all well seen gp he's changed meds onto omeprazole for next 6 wks then back onto lanzopraole he thinks its a lot to do with all my problems and the new 1 being heart so its a mixture of everything causing more an anxiety etc gosh you can't win with all these problems fibro has a lot of things that come with it so in other words you gotta put up with it grrrr

Thanks Tweety x

I notice a lot of you are on medication for heartburn/reflux is this related to the Fibro or the meds we have to take for it?

I went to my pharmacist today to get something for heartburn/reflux which I got rarely but more lately especially when I am stressed or anxious and this week I had the appt with my Rheumatologist and got stressed about it beforehand. I also get muscles spasms in my rib area and this doesn't help. The pharmacist gave me some tablets to take (pant up relief) one everyday for a week, but she said with all the meds I am on, including an anti-inflammatory that I should ask my gp to give me that or something similar on prescription to take long term.

Hi Mary I never suffered with this till after diagnosed with fibro, but a lot of it can be meds especially naproxen apparently so my gp said today but then stress/anxiety can also upset it all so I would see your gp to get something stronger than over counter meds x

Hi.

I suffer from gastritis for which I take a lansaprazole 30mg morning and nite just before I sleep. I also take 10 ml of gaviscon advance and motillium 10mg 3 times a day. When I got this it was out of the blue and I was so I'll I couldn't even hold down water! That was in June last year and it's still going on although it's nowhere near as bad. The one thing that stopped me being sick constantly was motillium. I advise you to speak to your dr about it and see what they say. It's an awful thing to have! I've lost 2 stone in weight and I can't gain it back. I'm only about 7 stone dripping wet! Do you take your tablets on an empty stomach? or take ibuprofen? They can cause reflux as they irritate the stomach lining, make it thinner and eventually wearing it away. I really hope you feel better soon

Hi have you had en endoscopy? I was diagnosed in 2000 with a hiatus hernia and reflux oesophagitis. On lansoproazol over the years I started to lose my voice sporadically acid was not going away in a hurry. I now have daysphonia (a malfunction of sounds , due to my larynx not closing properly) due to acid damage and I see a speech therapist. My tabs have been doubled and doubled again medicine 4X a day on top of that. I'm not saying this will happen to you, but please get it sorted really try hard to eat And drink the right foods what ever you do and notice acid reflux counteract it. Get meds under control stop it as soon as you can.

Was just going to suggest that you try giving up wheat and dairy. It really has worked for me and I feel so much better. Also discovered that for our bones we are much better off accessing calcium from vegetables ( broccoli, kale, watercress ) taking magnesium tablets and vit D & C so no need to worry on that score. I would urge you to try.

Hi I have found good old zantac helpful and not eating after 7pm. Not laying flat when in bed, eating smaller meals. Also keeping a food diary, there may be certain foods / drinks that make it worse. Also, have you had a test for candida?
