Hi, does anyone know anything about adrenal burnout and if there is any connection to dobro? I've just started reading a book called, Tired of being tired, and my symptoms are more consisant with that than they are with fibro. Are they connected or even the same thing?

I just looked up adrenal burnout and it can be cured ... For only $130.00 and the book and the diet and the hair analysis..... The trouble with fibro is it overlaps with many other illnesses that's why people usually have blood tests and trips here there and everywhere to rule out anything else..... For a lucky few they may have been misdiagnosed... And have something curable but I am afraid the vast majority are just stuck with it....

There is no scientific evidence supporting the concept of adrenal burnout and it is not recognized as an actual diagnosis by the medical community.

If the adrenal glands are deficient, you would be diagnosed with Addison's disease, which is serious and needs specific treatment. It is characterised by tiredness and weakness, certainly, but there are other symptoms, such as very low blood pressure and abnormal pigmentation of the skin.

If you visit your doctor, and explain that you are concerned about this, he will soon be able to check if you have any symptoms consistent with Addisons disease.

Adrenal burnout tends to be a term used for when your adrenal glands are permanently pumping out adrenaline in response to stress. This could be due to pain, illness, work, living conditions etc. it puts the whole body into permanent fight or flight mode ( because this happens over a long period of time we don't tend to notice how stressed our bodies are). My grandson (CFS) has this and with the advice of a Kiniesiologist he is improving. It calls for an alteration in diet and the support of the body with supplements. For him it has been a godsend. Our GPs tend not to look at the endocrine system too closely. In my opinion they should. Our hormonal system when not performing correctly has a huge impact on our health....look at the menopause and how we feel.

Unless there is an actual disease process going on, our endocrine system is very good at regulating itself - given the chance!

Stress has long been recognised as a major cause of ill-health, but needs no specific treatment other than a change of lifestyle, and a good, healthy diet.

These things are not always easy to achieve, I know, but there is no drug, treatment or supplement which will take the place of measures to remove the stress and to lead a less damaging lifestyle.

Unfortunately, there are many people out there making a fortune with quack cures and self-help books which offer hope, and I have to confess to trying a great many of them myself.

In most cases these are useless, and are only harmful to the pocket. However, they can be downright dangerous, so please be wary and cautious, whatever you decide to do!

I have just started a wonderful flare this morning ... I haven't eaten anything different , done anything different ... So why the flare... Because I have something bordering on WW3 going on in real life and I am stressed ... And it has to be bad to stress me out...

And no vitamin , food change , or blood test is going to help until the situation is sorted and I can de stress and go back to my usual laid back self...

Adrenal fatigue is well documented but like fibro and cfs isn't well supported by medical people. Addison is a distinct, life threatening condition which needs immediate treatment. Adrenal fatigue is what many get when they have suffered extreme trauma or stress. Today's society encourages it, what with bad western diet and pollution. High sugars, chemicals and stimulants put the body under continuous stress.

Its possible to help it enormously with lifestyle change and diet.

If you have a family history of Addisons, it would be a good idea to get tested - better safe than sorry!

I like the 'assassins' - gave me a much needed chuckle! :D
