surely this much pain is not normal??!!

I am currently 7dp5dt and since last night I have been in so much pain, it’s period type pain all across my back, lower abdomen and down my legs. I did a test which was ofcourse a stark negative. I had similar pains on my previous transfer but further on more like 9dp5dt and the clinic recommended analgesia - paracetamol and codeine or A and E if pain was severe. I work in A and E and no way I’m going there with ‘period pain’. The pain only stopped when I stopped all the meds and let my period come. I feel like my body just wants a period and it’s rejecting all the meds and the embryo as surely this much pain is not normal??!! I’ve even had to call in sick to work it’s so bad. I guess I’m just wondering if anyone else has experienced similar? If so what caused it and have you had any success? Feeling like I’m losing all hope.

for context both embryos were excellent grades, lining for this transfer was 9mm and trilaminar. Progesterone tested pre transfer and was 41 so added in cyclogest rectally at night as already on one lubion injection daily and 400mg utrogestan 3 times a day.

Hi lovely,

Ow that sounds horrible. Have you spoken to your clinic? I would give them a call first.

I've never experienced pain like that during the 2ww.

xx

Thank you so much for replying. I contacted the clinic and they have suggested it might be a reaction to the progesterone but who knows! Thankfully the pain has now resided I’m just hoping it doesn’t return xx

Make sure drinking plenty of fluids in case it is the start of a urine infection As the 1st post says best call your clinic for advice and support

Take care

do you have endometriosis? I have had pretty bad pains in 2WW both when pregnant and not. I hope you still get good news xx

Hi, thank you so much for replying. I’ve never had any diagnosis for endometriosis, but maybe it’s something for me to consider? The clinic mentioned it might be a reaction to the progesterone although they said it’s quite rare. Who knows but thankfully the pain has now mostly resolved and it fills me with hope to hear that you have had a positive test despite having bad pain in the 2WW it’s just so scary isn’t it!! Xx

was this a fresh or frozen transfer? My fresh transfer I had excruciating pain and went to a&e and it was due to one of my ovaries being enlarged from egg collection.

Might be a reaction to Cyclogest if it started after you added it, it can cause leg pain
