First cycle, miscarriage

Hello, I hope someone can give me some advice.

I had miscarriage last week ,on the 7th week of the pregnancy. I was bleeding and cramping on the 6th week, so I run to the hospital. They did a scan and they find the heartbeat, but also they find out I have a big hematoma so we increased the progesterone. One week later ( last week) went back for a scan and we learned that there is no heartbeat anymore.

It was our first cycle, from 9 eggs we had 2 embryos, the first transfer wasn’t successful. We are thinking to start a new cycle , but we don’t really know with my husband what is the best ,wait a couple of months to give some time to my body to recover or we should start as soon as possible. Next month I am going to be 38 years old and we have fertility issues from my husband side.

Sorry to read you post - thinking of you and sending you and your husband a hug It is thought best to wait at least 1 to 3 menstrual cycles to make sure your body has fully recovered from the miscarriage But best ask your clinic/ consultant advice as they know your full history

Take care

Thank you very much for your support. We will have a follow up consultation on the 22nd of April, I will ask definitely. When we did the last scan the nurse told me we can start the second cycle after 1 period, but I feel that is too early.

We would like to know if they planning to change anything throughout the second cycle, what kind of questions we supposed to ask?

Hello, I’m really sorry for your loss. I’ve just gone through a miscarriage in December and my period didn’t restart properly until February. Just be prepared for this as I was so ready to start again and disappointed when it was a no show. It all depends on how you feel mentally but I would think waiting for a full proper period is probably a good idea. X

I’m so sorry. It’s a huge loss. Take the time you need to be emotionally and physically as ready as you can be. A couple of months here and there is unlikely to make or break things for your IVF chances, but could make all the difference to your mind and body. I needed a couple of months at least physically after surgery for my ectopic pregnancy to be ready to try again. But emotionally to face IVF again I found I needed longer though there’s a balance between different feelings within me on it all. Be kind to you xx

Thank you so much, ladies, for sharing your experiences with me—it really helps a lot. Reading through your stories, I think we’ll take things step by step. We’ll wait for my period to return to normal, see how we’re feeling emotionally and mentally at that time, and take it from there.

Right now, the only thing I know for sure is that this is incredibly tough, and my husband and I feel like we’re in a million pieces.

Take care❤️
