First Cycle Abandoned

Hi all,

My DH and I started our first ICSI cycle last week. I went for scan again today (day 7) only to be told I have responded too well to the meds too quickly (I have PCOS) and that the cycle has to be abandoned😓 They said I can start next cycle following my next period and they will start with a lower dose (100 gonal instead of 125). Im now worried the same thing will happen again on our next try and wondering if anyone can share any similar experiences with any positive results?

Currently lay on the sofa watching Beauty & The Beast (for the 100th time) feeling very sorry for myself!

Sending everyone lots of baby dust ✨ and lots of luck during your journeys xxx

Sorry to hear this. On the plus side they are going to adjust your meds accordingly and will have learned a lot from your failed cycle. Better to have responded (albeit too well) than not respond well enough and have it cancelled for that reason xx

Thank you so much, and your right that’s what they said, it’s better to have responded well than not at all xxx

I agree, it's good news that you responded so well, and that are being looked after by your clinic. Less meds can only be a better thing for you and your eggs :) Best of luck with your next round x

Hi everhopeful83. So sorry to hear this, and what a nightmare after going through all the preparation injections etc. Still, they will have learned much about you, and already are altering the meds dose. Have a good rest for now when you can and drink plenty of water to quieten those follicles down. Thinking of you. Diane

Ahhh Im really sorry, it must be so disappointing to get stopped when you've just started but at least you know that you do respond to the drugs and next time they will have a much better approach to things which is the main thing for your health! Rest up and lok after yourself!xx

I know the feeling I responded really well to a bit to well that when I had my ec they decided on a freeze all the risk of ohss was to high it was a big disappointment. Hopefully they will get you the right dose next time they only cancel if it’s really necessary xx

You and I sound like two peas. Im going through ICSI with my OH and I also have PCOS. The clinic have said they are worried that the meds will hyper stimulate my eggs and gave me a dose of 112.50 of Gonal - F. Thank you for telling your story as I don't know if id be as brave.
