What to ask after miscarriage?

I have a follow up phone call today with my clinic today to discuss treatment following our mmc 6 weeks ago.

I hope you could give me some help and ideas on questions to ask about the mmc and the next IVF cycle.

To give you some background, this is my second mmc. First, ironically was 2yrs ago today. It was a blighted ovum that we found out about at our first scan at 13wks

We started our last IVF cycle, then found out we’re we’re naturally pregnant, I was over 5wks!! It was such a shock... It was a miracle. We had done stims for 10 days. Despite the meds and stress the little bean grew and we saw the little heartbeat at 6.5wks but it stopped when we had another scan at 8.5wks 😢. It was the furthest we have been. I still can’t believe it, I’m trying to look at the positives, that we were lucky enough to fall pregnant... even on the wrong side if 40, but it’s so hard. I’m doing all I can to improve the quality of eggs. I don’t know what else to do.

Hi Miracle43,

So sorry for your loss 😥

Have you considered doing PGS testing? Might be worth asking about during your follow up x

Hi KiboXX, thank you so much.

Our clinic doesn’t really do it, I did ask, they said the body is the best way ... I’m over 40 so I know that age is a huge factor 😢.

I am doing all I can, no caffeine, alcohol, try to eat organic when possible, lots of greens and protein and so many vitamins, lots of water. I know I’m extremely lucky to have had a positive result , I just can’t give up now xx

Oh that’s a shame. Would you consider a new clinic? Just given your history, I think it would be well worth considering.

I’m so sorry you’ve been through so much, life is so unfair sometimes💔 xx

I have thought about it, but unfortunately there isn’t many in our area. The one we are with is recommended.

I guess I’ll see what they say and go from there. Thank you so much for responding, hope you’re ok and having a lovely bank holiday xx

You are so strong to keep going and not giving up. I’m in a similar position 42.5 years old doing the same as you no caffeine, organic if possible and lots of water and vitamins. I found the book it starts with the egg really helpful. I feel you can only do so much the rest is fate/luck whatever you want to call it 😊 keep going you are doing great XX

Thank you for your kind words 🥰. I know you’re right, there is only so much we can do.

I know that the quantity isn’t there but I do believe I can help improve the quality, I just need to get my head into positive thinking. As everyone keeps saying it only takes one.

I can’t give up yet. Xx

Give them a call to see what their plans are, I was waiting for mine to call, if I didn’t call them I may still be waiting now.

I felt so anxious calling them, can’t explain it.

Good luck to you 🥰 keep in touch xx

Hi Miracle43,

What vitamins are you taking?

As someone previously said, I woukd have suggested PGS testing for recurring miscarriages. A friend of mine was also recommended to take a daily dose of aspirin to stop clots forming. Stick with it, the journey is so difficult but will be worth it xx

Hi MrsWright87,

I’m taking so many, DHEA, folic acid, royal jelly, inositol, Brazil nuts for selenium, I cartitine, l arginine, b complex with b12, magnesium, evening primrose oil, Maca, omega 3, ubiquinol (coq10), zinc, vitamin c & d , melatonin and have started since jan taking spirulina and wheatgrass powder . I also take kefir.

I know age is a factor 😔 but I’m doing all I can to improve quality. I have been doing acupuncture but that’s also in hold.

Any other suggestions? Xx

Hi Miracle43 - see my post. I am so sorry for what you are going through. We went through quite a similar situation. I think our loss was related to combination of elevated TSH and the polyp in the uterus. Did your IVF clinic perform a baseline test and see where things stand in terms of hormone levels, uterus lining, fallopian tubes etc ?

Hey, I’m so sorry to hear about your miscarriages. I’ve also suffered further miscarriages since the post. All natural.

I’ve continued with all of what I said in my post and acupuncture.

Trying to walk as much as possible. Drinking raspberry leaf tea from day 1 of my period until ovulation.

I’ve stopped taking most of the vitamins separately and taking Procieve Max.
