PGTA result gutted

Just had a call from our embryologist.

Out of 9 eggs, 8 were suitable to use, 4 fertilised, 2 stopped growing at day 2, 1 made it to early blast day 5 but it wasn't fully developed and the last was given an extra day and fully hatched 6BB. They took a sample to test. The result aneuploid extra chromosone 15. This was our first cycle using icsi. My partner was found be low on folat so he's now taking folic acid to boost that plus coq10. I take coq10, selenium, pregnacare vitamin and extra vitamin D. I read it cam take up to 3 months for medication to get into the system so we thought we should wait 3 months for cycle 2. Just wondering if anyone has heard the same? Any advice? Anything else we could do or try? I'm worried being 38 my eggs are totally abnormal now. I fear every cycle will be the same. I don't want to use donor eggs. Feeling gutted. We are going through so much stress at the moment and we are doing a great job of supporting eachother but it's hard. I'm 73kg. I could lose weight..feeling alittle lost.

So sorry to read your post - sending you both a hug Might be an idea to discuss your concerns with your clinic Also ask if they can suggest any supplements they think would be of benefit to you at this time

hey x sorry to hear your feeling so down. You are being very hard on yourself

It can take a couple to get results and if they have just discovered your husbands folate levels are low that could have contributed to not having a great result

Get him to take the supplements for a few months and try again. It does take 3 months for a oocyte to get to maturity for fertilisation so maybe give yourself this time.

There’s heaps of info about supplements to support sperm health.

Cut out alcohol would be a big one in my opinion.

Your young really so you have time

I started my journey at 40 and had one successful round at 43.5 .

One cycle I got 15 eggs out and only 2 fertilised and then the next I got 7 eggs out and 2 embryos so it’s so varied each time.

Don’t blame yourself as there’s sooo many reasons this happens.

Wishing you all the best 💗

I did 4 cycles with my specialist that I got success with. We worked out my body responded better to power dose stims

I’m in Australia and used a private clinic

My last cycle I was on 225 on menopur and I got 9 eggs 7 mature and all fertilised and I got 2 embryos

I never tested my embryos. New research is showing abnormal embryos can self correct.

I think the sperm health has ALOT to do with the results so maybe with a few months on supplements things will improve.

They are always quick to put it back onto the aging eggs but new research is showing the sperm health is equally important to the outcome and even the development of the child after birth.

Wishing you all the best 💗🙌 you are still young so stay hopeful xx

I'm not sure if this helps or not but I'm also 38 and I recently did an icsi round with PGTA and got 22 eggs and ended up with 4 PGTA embryos so don't worry too much about age as it is possible to get a good result still at our age.

My first collection when I was 36 resulted in 5 eggs and 1 abnormal embryo so it shows it really does vary cycle to cycle.

1st 2 rounds (4 transfers) with ABC. Now moved to TFP for most recent cycle that had the best result so hoping this one is the one! Currently in my TWW so we will see!

I'm at TFP Oxford. They are a lot more expensive than my first clinic but so far I'm getting better results but time will tell on the most important result!

Hi! I'm so sorry this happened to you. I am gutted for you. It is ideal give 3 months of time for the nutrition and supplements to have an impact. As a fertility dietitian, you can also try nutrition optimization along with acupuncture. Research shows these in tandem have wonderful improvement rates for egg quality and live birth outcomes. Weight loss, generally speaking, shows positive improvements but done in a way that supports fertility and hormone health. You can DM me if you want to talk more.

Hello, Thank so much coloursonyourplate We can't afford another cycle until July 2025 now. We are adopting the Mediterranean diet. Nothing processed. Currently trying to find a new clinic. Any ideas or good reviews of clinics please let me know. Where are you based? What are the benefits of acupuncture? Xx
