We are about to embark on our 3rd embryo cycle and have a decision to make regarding using the growth hormone Zomacton. I turn 42 this week and have a low reserve.
I was recommended using 3 does of it in our last (second) cycle but we saw no real addition benefit. 4 eggs collected each cycle resulting in only 1 x 3 day embryo from each cycle.
Our consultant has advised we use it again during the stimulation phase but we have read research which suggested the affect of the hormone is best when taken in the prep month. We asked our consultant about this who said they are aware of the research but it is not the approach our client take.
Does anyone have any experience of using the hormone either before or during the stimulation phase?
We have been told it’s our decision whether to use it again or not so would welcome any thoughts.
Thank you!

Hi Rainbow2023I am 42 as well and I have had 4 IVFs and 4 transfers until now. None of them worked. I changed clinic and the new clinic has prescribed growth hormone 0.5 everyday during stimulation phase.
First time I am using it. What about you? Have you used?
Hi - so sorry I missed your message. Sorry to hear you haven’t been successful yet. I did end up using Zomacton it in our 3rd catching cycle last year and (5 doses every other day during stims). We did get 4 times more eggs collected than the 2 previous rounds so believe it helped.
Hi, I ended up using it in my 2nd and 3rd rounds last year. On the 3rd round I took 5 doses during my stims so it sounds different drug to what your clinic is recommending.
We did get our best result in this round - 16 eggs collected! We opted for ICIS in this round and ended up with 2 PGTA tested embryos which are currently frozen.
No problem. I took 5 doses / vials every other day from Day 5 of my stims cycle. I just turned 42 the week before starting my 3rd stims cycle.
There’s some research to suggest growth hormone should be taken during the preparation month but I asked my clinic about this and they said they were aware of the research but the clinic’s policy was to give during stims. Worth asking your clinic about this.
