We're just about to do our first IVF cycle in the next few weeks and I'm getting really nervous and afraid it won't work! I'm 38 and my husband is 40, I had really high AMH levels so we got tons of eggs at the extraction phase but it quickly whittled down to around 8 or 9 viable embryos.
My left fallopian tube is blocked so I think that's the reason we've struggled to get pregnant naturally but since we've been trying for so long, I've put so much pressure on myself to make this work. It doesn't help that I recently lost my job and so paying for future rounds feels very far away.
Does anyone have any inspiring success stories for first time tries? And, any tips for how to deal with the two week wait? I'm already feeling like I'm going to be terrified to move!
Thank you!

Oh wow, 5 collections is a lot! I’m sorry you had to go through that so many times. But 6 embryos is also really positive! Good luck too, are you doing the transfer soon?
8 or 9 embryos is so amazing!! You won’t need to think about another round for a long time! That will keep you going with transfers for at least a year but I doubt you will need them all anyways and one of them will be your wee miracle soon 🤗💜 our first round we got 6 embryos and embryo number 4 (transfer number 3 was the one that worked for us) good luck! Xx
I had 3 embryos out of 3 cycles. My two children are currently sleeping on me. One is still frozen. I was 39 at the time of ivf. If the blocked tube is your only issue, 8-9 embryos is great. No advice on tww - just take it day by day. You can’t help the anxiety. It is normal. xx
8 or 9 viable embryos is amazing, I think the average from one extraction is 2 Of course it depends on age, and a million other factors but it's a great start.
hello YogagirlL, that sounds like a really good number. I noticed you said you have a blocked fallopian tube, did you have your tube removed or unblocked at all? The reason I ask is because I had a blocked fallopian tube that went undiagnosed until after my third failed transfer. Thankfully as we were about to do the forth my doctor noticed liquid on the scan and suggested could be from a blocked tube. Apparently the liquid from a blocked tube can prevent implantation. We cancelled that cycle and instead I had a laproscopy where they found the blocked tube and removed it. I’ve had three transfers since and pregnant twice. First ended in miscarriage and now on my second, hoping all goes well this time. The reason the second transfer didn’t implant was most likely poor embryo quality. So, the reason I’m suggesting this is if you still have your tube and it is still blocked you may want to discuss removing it before proceeding. It’s not a cheap procedure but worth doing if it leads to a positive outcome more quickly in the long run. Good luck 🙏
hi ToffeeLou, thanks for sharing that, no one has ever mentioned removing my tube but it’s something I’ll ask the doctor about now that you’ve shared. I want to give us the best chance of success ideally!
Fingers crossed your second pregnancy continues through to a healthy baby. Good luck!
