Sudden nerves about my first ever IVF cycle!!

I’m due to start my first ever short protocol IVF this week and have started feeling the warning cramps that my period is coming in the next few days. Suddenly the nerves have hit and I’m so scared about this whole process!!

I’m nervous about injecting myself, juggling work and all the scan appointments, the egg collection..... all of it!!

I guess I’m just looking to tell someone I’m scared, but also if anyone has any words of advice ‘s be really grateful! Xx

Hello, I had my first IVF cycle last month & like you I was scared. Once I actually started the short protocol I found I didn't have time to be scared.Time flew by! Because its new its normal to be nervous, I worried I would do the injections wrong, not grow enough follicles, be in pain at egg collection but it was all fine. I was expecting it to be so much worse than it was & when I was really afraid ( day before egg collection) , I got great support on here. I'm sure once you get started you will take it all in your stride. For me, without a doubt the 2ww was by far the worst part. That's the only part that messed with me! I wish you lots of luck with your cycle x

Hi lovely, I am starting short protocol today for my first round too xx

I have been feeling totally nervous too, however I’m trying to think ‘what will be will be’. The most we can do is try our best.

Have you had your consultation to learn about injecting? And had all your meds delivered x

Hello! How nice to know someone else is feeling the same. Yes had meds and consultation but I didn’t take it in very much bad was a bit daunted. Luckily the hubby has had to use epipens before so he’s there to help and my brother is a nurse, so I have some support xx

It’s great your hubby and brother can help. I’m terrible with needles and luckily had my Hubby administer all the injections. Time goes by so quickly and it’s not bad at all 😉 good luck!! X

Hey, honestly everything you’re feeling is totally normal, it’s all new but after a few days of injections it will become routine. Remember there’s always someone to ask on here and YouTube have videos to show you I believe. Wishing you lots of luck xx

I agree it’s scary but you can do it! 😃 I used the “mindful ivf” app that was recommended on here, helped me to relax & feel bit more positive about it all. Wishing you all the very best ✨💖 x
