Cyclogest Allergy

Hi

I recently reacted to using cyclogest pessary. Area is itchy, irritated, swollen, any suggestions?

I can’t use them rectally as I suffer from IBS and currently mildly active.

I spoke to the clinic, they said to use lubion (25mg) in the morning and evening. I use to use cyclogest (400mg) in the morning and evening and lubion in the evening. I feel like I’m going to be taking less progesterone now.

Hope you get some replies to your post Maybe you should discuss with your clinic your concerns about the amount of progesterone you are on as they know your history

Take care

Wow sorry to hear that!!!

I don't know any case like this, but if they said to take that medicine it should be ok...but if you are not sure maybe speak with the clinic and tell them your concern.

With my first round, I had Lutigest pessaries & had no problems with them whatsoever. My last 2 cycles have been cyclogest & I find that I’m ok for about 7 days & than I get itching & soreness. I’m going to ask if I can go back to lutigest on my next round I think.

That’s what happened to me. First few days were ok before I started reacting to it.

in my experience, Lubion and Cyclogest absorbed completely differently. Lubion raised my blood levels of progesterone much higher than Cyclogest did. You can always ask your clinic to do a blood test to see what your blood progesterone levels are and hopefully that will ease any concerns.

I’m using cyclogest three times daily, twice vaginally, once rectal. I’ve only ever used recalls before no issues. Vaginally is SO ITCHY. Wildly so. I’m going to speak to my clinic it must be an allergy. The only thing is lubion is very very expensive compared to cyclogest.

In relation to lubion vs cyclogest doses, my understanding is you absorb lubion much better so you don’t need as much xx
