*sensitive for some* Starting IVF again after IVF miscarriage

Hello all, First to say please skip this post if it isn't the right time for you to read for whatever reason. And if it is a bad time for you I send you my very best wishes.

I'm just reaching out to find out how soon people began their next stimulated IVF cycle after miscarriage. Also, I'm a little confused on how pregnancy hormones might impact on egg maturation and affect next round outcomes.

Very sadly we lost our first ever pregnancy at 9 weeks about a month ago as a missed miscarriage. It was our 5th and final embryo from a first round of ICSI due to severe male factor infertility (Azoospermia).

We're very lucky to have a second funded round on the NHS and consultant has booked us in to start stimulation around 20th May. We'll be elective freeze all if we get embryos🤞as I don't do well on progesterone and will have natural FET instead.

My niggle is whether, on my second true period after miscarriage, I will be giving my ovaries enough time to get going again and produce good enough eggs? Consultant isn't concerned and I do want to get on with it as I'm 36 soon.

Any thoughts or experiences would be good to hear.

My body and mind feel ready but I am a nervous nelly and want to get it right as private treatment will be very costly for us due to needing surgical sperm retrieval too

Hi there.Very sorry for your loss.I am currently going through a long drawn out miscarriage.Due in for d&c tomorrow.Surprise natural pregnancy after our daughter was born after two rounds of ivf 11 months ago. Had a consultation with our ivf clinic last week and the doctor said we could cycle again in June but due to d&c this will be delayed to July now.Wishing you all the best.xx

I am so sorry for your loss, but it's good that you're feeling emotionally ready to give it another go. I had a miscarriage at 5.5 weeks back in December. At my follow up consultation I was told I could jump right back in and start stims as soon as my next period arrived, which came at the beginning of February. The loss didn't impact my response to the meds-my follicles grew well, I got 9 mature eggs retrieved and nearly all of them fertilised! Sadly I didn't have the outcome I was hoping for but I think that was due to my age/egg quality rather than the miscarriage. So to answer your question, I still believe you can have success with starting your next round in May. Wishing you the best of luck!

I would go again as soon as you feel ready it shouldn't impact your results and the doctor isn’t concerned. I had a miscarriage at 9 weeks in October and couldnt get started again (as clinic was busy) until March and I was demented with the waiting! I don’t know why but the urge to get going again after a miscarriage is much stronger for me than a BFN! I’m so so sorry for your loss and wish you all the best for your next round 💜 x

Hi Minnie. Just wanted to let you know that I understand the heartache of finally getting pregnant and then going through loss. So impressed by you on your strength!I wouldn't worry too much about waiting. I ended up waiting 6 months, mostly for egg quality but also because I just wasn't ready.

Waiting didn't improve egg quality at all to my knowledge. I've had the same results from the eggs retrieved this cycle as that first one. Which were good in terms of number of eggs and fertilisation. But sadly no success, and also another MC. I'm nearly 36 too and I'm really trying not to let the losses stop me from trying again as soon as possible.

so sorry for your loss. I had miscarriage a few years ago age 38 from a fresh transfer at 11 weeks in July and I went again for a frozen transfer in Sept and was successful.

I’m now trying for a second and had another drawn out miscarriage with a frozen embryo which resulted in a d&c this Jan but they told me to wait 3 months for things to settle after surgery. I haven’t found the strength to go again but I will over the summer.

Hi there, I’m 36 and had a miscarriage at 5 weeks in February and we only got one blast from that cycle; nothing to freeze, and was ICSI.

I went straight in 6 weeks later for second round, we didn’t get any blasts, had 2 x morulas transferred and it didn’t work. I’m having a 2-3 month break now as I felt I maybe went in too soon.
