Protocol for FET - Anyone had similar??

Hi everyone! Had egg collection & PGT and we have 1 suitable embryo. Call today with 2 proposed protocols, medicated & natural. We are leaning more towards medicated which entails Prostap, Progynova, Buserelin & Cycolgest. Curious if anyone else has experienced this and what to expect?? TIA ❣️

I had exactly the same experience as you. PGT tested and only one suitable embryo.

I went for a medicated cycle as I wanted the certainty that it would go ahead as I had read about other ladies having non medicated cycles and it being cancelled as their lining wasn’t thick enough.

I was put on prostap, Lubion, prognova abd cyclogest and at my clinic needed to remain on it for the first 12 weeks of pregnancy to support my lining (other clinics may be different).

This is reassuring - Thank you! The medicated protocol seems more controlled & natural could be unpredictable & uncertain & potentially delayed/cancelled. I was thinking that science has helped us this far so better to go with medicated! 🧬🤞🏼 Similar here, progynova & cycolgest to be continued for 12 weeks.

Thank you. And yes it is definately more controlled to follow the medicated plan, and also allows you to plan for things such as work.

I never followed a natural cycle, so cannot comment on that, but perhaps someone else may respond and give you a considered approach on that.

having done both medicated and natural I prefer natural cycles for sure as they have less/no medication. Also there is the benefit that if the transfer doesn’t work it hasn’t messed with your cycles as I always found after taking hormone medication this really affected my cycles/didn’t ovulate properly afterwards.

if you have very irregular cycles though or you feel like you want more control of timings definitely do medicated, it’s a much longer process but with more control of what is happening.

I would say my lining was actually thicker on my natural cycle (7.8mm) compared to medicated (7.2mm) so not sure if medicated makes a massive difference for me xxx

Thank you for this! We have 1 precious embryo to transfer and natural cycle is too uncertain in terms of guaranteeing capturing the surge and an appointment being available for transfer is too unpredictable. I think I’ll cope better mentally and emotionally with a structured plan in place also. I think if we had more embryos available I would have seriously considered natural however science has got us this far so keeping hope in that 🤞🏼 It’s our first round also so don’t have anything else to base it off, muddling through each stage as it comes, the IVF rollercoaster continues 🎢 x
