Hey, just after some similar stories. Going out of my mind.
I found out I was pregnant a few weeks back after a FET.
I would have been 6 weeks today. At around 5 weeks I started having severe cramps and back pain for 2 days followed by a few days bleeding with a couple of clots passed. Of course I knew I had miscarried, well I thought I had. After all this I had my hcg levels done last week (would have been around 5 weeks at this time) my first hcg was 800, increased to 1300, then went down to 900 on Monday so I knew Monday it was over, but due to the slow decrease they sent me for another blood test today to be sure. Just got told my levels have now risen again and they are now slightly alarmed. I have to now have a scan tomorrow. But does this sound like ectopic or possibly retained tissue. Weirdly I still have full boobs and other pregnancy symptoms. please if any one has been in a similar situation? Xx
I'm so sorry to hear that you must go through that. I totally understand how you feel as I went through ectopic pregnancy few years back.
I still hope it's not going to be ectopic in your case but the fluctuating numbers sounds a bit like that. In my case Hcg numbers were oscillating in similar way yours do.
Thank you zytajones. I have a scan tomorrow and im praying they can see something and just get to the bottom of this. I just want it to be over now. Im so to hear you went through a ectopic pregnancy really is heart-breaking. as if it isnt bad enough but to be so drawn out.
Can i asked what happened in the end? did you have to have surgery or meds to pass it?
I really hope they will find it! I will be thinking of you tomorrow.I went through hell to be honest. First 1 week we decided to wait and watch, 2nd - they gave me this drug which should end the pregnancy, and as the 3rd week approached I ended up in emergency sugery as the embryo ruptured my tube. So I was unlucky and went through the worse possible scenario - nothing worked in my case.
But I'm always 'special' about medical history so I'm pretty sure you won't follow my steps!
Hi SammyMc7, I am so sorry to hear you are going through this! The not having full clarity is the worst I found and you just want to be done with it if it doesn’t work. I hope the scan tomorrow gives you that!
The fluctuating HCG does indeed suggest possible ectopic or retained tissue indeed. Hopefully tomorrow they can see where it is and set up a treatment plan.
I had 2 confirmed ectopics while trying natural. The first one was in my left tube and I had bleeding and therefor had lots of scans and bloodtests at the EPU over 3-4 weeks and thankfully it seemed to have sorted itself. The 2nd was in my right tube and again scans unclear but HCG not rising quick enough so again after 2 weeks of waiting and re scanning they confirmed ectopic. But while waiting for planned surgery on a Monday, the weekend before it ruptured my tube and had emergency surgery in the end to remove the tube. And was then referred for IVF due to risks for ectopics.
There is sadly no real way of knowing till the scans shows something… but do discuss the different options if it is ectopic. They sometimes wait and see, other options is injections, but quite a few ladies go on needing a 2nd injection which means after you can’t get pregnant for 6 months as the drug won’t be out of your system and can harm a future pregnancy. Or surgery and removal of the tube. If you are already doing IVF you don’t need them so depending on your recovery you might be able to resume IVF sooner than with injections. Just something to discuss pro’s and con’s with your doctor. I was always very impatient for my next try hence why I would want to know the options for after.
Sorry long story, I keep my fingers crossed that perhaps the one HCG test was maybe faulty and things are still developing as they should and wish you all the strength for tomorrow and the days to come!
Thank you for your reply. I’m so sorry you’ve also had to go through such an awful experience. I didn’t even think about the pros and cons so Thank you so much for this, I’m down as unexplained fertility and due to have a laparoscopy and hystercopy on the 26th of July due to now 4 failed cycles, im praying this doesn’t disrupt that as I’ve been on the waiting list for a number of months.
I’m hoping it doesn’t turn out this way but it’s not looking promising and I’m a lot like you, very very impatient. I want to do another cycle soon as my investigations have been done and I’m recovered xx
Sorry to hear about the 4 failed cycles so far. And now this on top of it…
If it does turn out to be ectopic, I would push for surgery, as they will do so doing a laparoscopy and they might be able to do what they were going to do all in 1 go! So definitely mention that! I was similar back then waiting for a laparoscopy and when they removed my tube they had a good look around while in there so that might actually help.
Good luck tomorrow! I hope you get some answers!
Hey ladies,
So a lot like you all said, it’s too early and they couldn’t see anything. They seen what looks like a sac but also said this could be fluid. I’m being referred to a local EPU today and I will have to be scanned again until they can see more. At the moment it’s likely in a unknown location. So still non the wiser. This is just adding salt into wounds isn’t it 🥺💔 xx I’m really hoping I get some answers in a few days xx
So sorry to hear that! The not knowing is killing! I wish you all the strength in hanging in there and hopefully the next scan will show more. And hopefully your local EPU will take good care of you! When I was going through it they kept taking bloods every 2-3 days and a scan sometimes twice a week so hopefully they monitor you closely and you will get answers soon! Take it easy and will be thinking of you! Xxx
I'm so sorry to hear that Sammy. I hope this will not be dragging forever. I know how it's killing you and I wish you didn't have to go through this. Sending you love. xx
Oh no I’m sorry to hear this one is bad enough let alone two 🥺 can I ask how long it took for them to detect it. I have another scan on Monday and another blood test. I’m really hoping I get some answers soon xx
Sometimes it’s fast and sometimes it takes longer but both times my tubes ruptured so just be very careful any bad pain or bleeding go straight to hospital don’t wait about till Monday xx
My first one was pregnancy of a unknown location because sometimes it’s hard to find on a scan if the embryo is in your tubes I really hope it’s not for you it’s such a worrying thing to go through xx
This is what they said to me yesterday about pregnancy in unknown location. My bleeding had stopped now and it’s gone to brown on wiping. Is this normal? Xx
Yeah that was my first symptom the brown spotting just be really careful I think it’s shit they wait around for bloods etc I new something wasn’t right it can be managed with tablets if it’s left too late it’s surgery I actually don’t have any tubes now but I’m glad I don’t have to go through that again I now have a we girl from my first FET so there is hope hun even if it is don’t give up hope ❤️I honestly feel so bad for people going through it 😭xxx
Thank you I really pray that it resolves on it’s on that can happen too and you can miscarry it’s not what you want but it saves all the worrying etc because they can be really dangerous keep me updated any questions at all message me 😊xx
I had it confirmed today it is not ectopic thankfully. The sac is where it should be, but they feel like they should see more by now, however they have to re scan me in 10days to be 100% sure and if I haven’t miscarried naturally by then it will be surgery or medicated to remove it. 😔 but it’s not good news. Xx
Hi Sammy. I'm sorry it's not a good news and that you are still in a limbo and not sure of the situation. It's a horrible feeling. Sending you a virtual hug, I'm sure you can go through it xxx
