Miscarriage at 4weeks and 500 hcg levels after

Hello ladies, question about miscarriage and still high HCG.My friend had a miscarriage after ivf few weeks ago her levels were only 21 at 4 weeks so doctor said she was having a miscarriage and had bleeding afterwards, bleeding has stopped for over 10 days now and some spotting occured yesterday, after blood test they found out hcg levels are at 500!

How is that possible?

Could it be ectopic pregnancy? Has this happen to anyone?

Hey, I think it's fairly common for hcg to rise before it falls again and this did happen to me (MC on Friday then lood test on Monday was higher than the previous Thursday), however I don't think my rise in HCG was as significant as you describe, they did scan me to check it wasn't eptopic but that's because I had pain in one side and I was panicking about eptopic rather than them being overly concerned with the numbers, perhaps another blood test will be required to confirm for definite which way its going 💗 xx

Yes it’s possible it could be ectopic. I have had 2 and this sounds familiar. I hope it’s not but it could be so your friend should be monitored at the EPU regularly until they can confirm what’s causing the hcg to rise.
