Trigger warning - miscarriage at 5/6 weeks

I found out yesterday that my FET has not been as successful as I thought, and at 6 weeks my HCG levels are dropping and the scan revealed the pregnancy isn’t viable. I have been told to stop my meds and wait for nature to take its course. I wondered if anyone has been through something similar, and could tell me how long it took for the miscarriage to happen once they stopped the meds? My last miscarriage was a couple of weeks later on and I had to have surgical management after two weeks, and am really hoping to avoid that this time round.

I'm so sorry you are going through this. Big hugs.

I was in a similar position last year. My miscarriage started around 2 days after stopping meds but of course it is different for everyone. I hope that it passes as easily as it can for you this time.

Hi Km I am so so sorry to hear this. I had the same thing happen to me at 6 weeks. I came off the meds on a Friday and by the Sunday started bleeding. I hope you are okay and accessing any support you need.

I have since that experience had another unsuccessful failed transfer but then had a successful one and am now 31 weeks pregnant. Keep going as it can happen, we were on our last attempt xx

I'm so sorry. I've had this happen and once it just felt like a heavy period and a second time it was heavier, but I didn't need medical management. I really hope it passes as easily as possible for you.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. My last miscarriage was similar, in that the first scan showed it was not viable, and HCG levels had stalled at a low number. It took about a week after I stopped the meds before the miscarriage began with cramps and bleeding. I hope all this passes as easily as possible for you and that the world treats you with tenderness and grace. xo

I’m so so sorry 😢 at just over 6 weeks it took a few days for the miscarriage to start for me (was also from a FET it was a few days of cramps, then one afternoon of quite sore cramps and clots and then a heavy but normal period was my experience but I think everyone is different. I’m thinking of you and hope you have some people to lean on just now xx

I'm sorry , it's really hard. With my first two they were around 5/6 weeks and the HCG was very low/never really rose properly and I had a bleed a few days after I stopped the meds. The last one was a bit later and the HCG kept rising even after I stopped the meds and the sac was getting bigger so my body wasn't letting it go - had to have surgery for that. So I think if the levels are dropping maybe that shows it will happen naturally but it depends how quickly your body recognises it's not viable and that may go together with how quickly the HCG drops. It's not a nice time and can hit hard as the hormones drop - I read somewhere that women who have losses can experience the same hormones changes and feelings as women with post natal depression so please look after yourself x
