’Modified’ natural FET - anyone ovulated before trigger?

I have a modified natural FET. So I take low levels of gonal f to stimulate ovaries to produce 1 or 2 follicles which naturally creates oestrogen and thickens my lining.

I normally take a trigger when it’s ready. However I went for my scan today and they said I’d already ovulated! My ov sticks have not been positive so not sure how that happened.

my doctor thinks it would have been Friday evening and so has booked my fet for next Friday. He says it should be fine but we can’t guarantee that it’s the ‘optimal’ time.

Has anyone else had anything like this happen?

thanks xxx

hi Daisy

How long have you been taking the gonal f for ?

Have you done any scans prior to this one?

Also has your specialist done any blood tests to confirm ovulation?

I have ovulated before trigger before but this was confirmed by blood work.

I’ve done this type of fet before and usually monitored from day 10 of my cycle and daily until ovulation is confirmed.

If i had not had any prior scans to confirm there was a follicle there and also negative ovulation sticks I would be concerned I didn’t actually ovulate and therefore would the transfer be a good idea. At the very least , they should check your progesterone levels the day before transfer to check ovulation has taken place. Not just for progesterone levels but a lot of the signal hormones are produced after ovulation which help implantation.

Hi- thanks for taking the time to respond.

I’d had a scan 2 days before where everything looked good, triple lining, two big follicles not quite mature. Then this scan showed the lining had progressed from triple line (I can’t remember the term he used), one big follicle had collapsed and there was fluid there. He said based on those three factors he thought I’d ovulated the evening before.

We’ve had to take a bit of a guess about exactly when but we’re just going ahead based on that info.

Hopefully it works out for us 🤞🏻💕🌈 xxx

That’s reassuring that you know there were two good follicles there 😀

I am going in for a scan today to see if I have ovulated - took trigger on wed night - but that will be followed up by bloods in a couple of days to check prog levels

Really hoping it’s a positive result for both of us 🙏🙏💫💫💓💓

hi Daisy, the exact same thing happened to me this month. I had my transfer Wednesday (which was a disaster but not because of the ovulating before trigger) I’m not sure how your lining is but lining actually goes from to thin to too thick almost with the trigger so I personally was happier that I hadn’t had to introduce the trigger shot. Less drugs the better I always think. Please try not to worry my consultant wasn’t concerned at all. I did however have a blood test to confirm ovulation had definitely occurred xxxx good luck xxx
