progesterone level update

I’m trying not to stress , but the clinic just rang me.

I’m really upset and confused.

They’ve “re discussed” my progesterone level and advised me to add an extra cyclogest am & pm..

Because the information they gave me yesterday obviously wasn’t correct ….

Day of transfer it’s was actually 246

And on Monday ( 2 /3 days later) is was 227

So it’s going down instead of up.

What does this mean , my period is coming?

And 246 on transfer , is this way too high? She said anything over 40 is ok, but 246? That seems excessive…

I asked if I should do another blood test in a couple of days and she said no. 🙄

Hey Rol, that sucks that there's confusion about your progesterone levels. As if it wasn't stressful enough as it is!!

I thought your progesterone couldn't be 'too high' and that wouldnt make a difference so hopefully you're ok on that front.

I would suspect they're just being cautious by giving you extra, especially if they don't want you to do another blood test. If they were worried they would definitely be wanting to test it again, so I think that's a good sign xx

Sunshine, thanks. I’m a bit annoyed at them, I just don’t understand them giving me wrong info yesterday. And feeling really deflated that it’s all over .

I just don’t understand this whole progesterone thing. If it’s going down , why they wouldn’t advise another blood test to check it in a few days? Xx

They probably know from experience that the cyclogest will bump it up so np need to test.

The lack of information is incredibly frustrating though. I get why youre annoyed. Why not just explain things properly to prevent worry and upset? We're certainly paying enough for our treatment - we deserve a personal touch and proper explanations.

It's definitely not all over. I've got a good feeling about this one 💗

Oh no, don't worry!! Your progesterone is lovely and high. It varies day to day, even hour to hour, so I wouldn't even say it's dropping. They seem like they are being very cautious and making sure you are completely covered, which is great! It can't be too high (generally the more the better actually), and it's far from too low!! You got this! 💗🤞🏻 xx

Oh really, even at transfer , 246 isn’t mental high? Esp when everyone saying they were around 40 at transfer.

You know it would be so much easier if they’d just explain or reassure you.

Thanks xxx

Yes, mine was actually around 400 at transfer. My specialist likes it crazy high (above 150)! You're in the perfect zone! I know what you mean xx

oh wow, ok well I won’t freak out too much then, let’s hope it keeps rising then.

You think pronto every other day and two cyclogest day and night is enough?

Thanks chel91 ❤️

Sounds good to me. Pretty similar to what I was doing! xx

that sounds like good numbers to me, I’d be more concerned if it were too low! Re dropping - as others have said progesterone can vary wildly hour to hour and dropping prog does not necessarily mean it hasn’t worked. For example, my prog was 125~ on transfer day but dropped to 34!!!! On OTD. It was a viable pregnancy and the clinic weren’t too worried, they just requested I take one extra pessary. Best of luck x

My clinic likes progesterone above 100 on the day of transfer so those numbers are amazing! They also told me that numbers can’t be too high, as did my acupuncturist, so don’t worry about that at all lovely. Like someone else has said above, it fluctuates constantly so could just have been dependent on the time you had the second test. Good luck with the 2ww! Xx

I am adamant that progesterone has been the cause of my losses. I tracked it and pushed for meds and I’m now 11 weeks pregnant. I was once told by a consultant that levels can’t be too high, the higher the better so take the meds. Sending you all the luck in the world 💗

Sorry about your losses, and congrats on 11 weeks. That’s brilliant. Feeling like my period is coming today , that back ache and feeling crap so was stressing a bit that it was because I hadn’t given my embryos the correct start with the right amount of progesterone. But if it’s nothing I’m doing wrong, what will be will be 🤞🤞

Thanks xx

I’ve had that feeling loads this time and even a small bleed but fingers crossed everything seems ok. It’s so hard with the side effects of meds, the stress & worry but hang in there & take the progesterone x

Having a bleed must have been so stressful for you. Thanks for you messages. I’m back working today so hopefully I’ll be distracted xx
