Progesterone level after transfer

I’m 2 days post transfer (feels like 2 weeks!)

Had my blood test on day of transfer and again this morning to test progesterone level.

Nurse informed me it was at 200 which is stable and to continue with the prontogest as normal.

Does anyone know about progesterone levels?

Thanks

sorry if this isn’t a response more like a question , are blood tests after transfer standard? I never got checked at all and with failed implantation im looking at my levels possibly being too high / low as a reason . Just want an idea before I approach my clinic . Im at a uk clinic paying privately x

I’m in the uk, nhs but self funding. I’ve had 4 cycles with this clinic and they haven’t tested in the past . I was actually requesting it to be done but they informed me it’s us now done as standard. My nurse said they are following in line with most uk clinics.

rolo81. I think this a good level. Protongest is tough on the buttocks but it’s a good drug. Are you using anything else? I was on lubion on once a day but my test on transfer revealed it was low so they swapped it to the prontogest and it went up to about 90. I got the flakey BFP remember. So 200 is good. Trust in the process now and relax - look after yourself - it’s all looking good. fingers crossed 🤞 for a BFP..

Hello you x you’re so good replying knowing the weekend you are having. I hope all will be ok . Been thinking about you . Just no advice to give you unfortunately .

Im on pronto every second day along with one cyclogest morning and one at bedtime. They’ve said to continue with this amount . Xx

200 is a good level - think mine was around that and was successful. My previous two rounds it had been around 20/25 and too low. Keeping fingers crossed for you!

Thanks, I’d no idea about levels until my last transfer was cancelled due to high levels so I’m more curious this time xx

My clinic look for the level to be at 50 on day of transfer and this is considered an excellent ‘on the high side to be safe’ level. 200 sounds great and I was told you can never have too much! I was 28 on day on transfer and they put me on daily prontogest immediately. I’m now 11 weeks xx

Good luck to you, your levels sound great xxx

Congrats ❤️ that’s great news. Thanks for replying, I can’t remember what she said I was on transfer day, it was a low number , I wanna say 14 but that sounds too low?

I’m on prontogest every second day …every day …well done you!!

Hi again, so the clinic rang me and said my progesterone was actually 246 on transfer day …that seems crazy high? Do you know if your clinic said over 50 was too much? X

They said you can never have too much as your body will just use what it needs. When I asked about moving to daily injections I asked the question about ‘will it be enough’ they said it would be more than what I need but that’s not a problem. That number is great so I don’t think you have anything to worry about on the progesterone front! Xx

The daily prontogest shots are not doing my backside any favours though! Lumps everywhere! Good luck my lovely xx

Yellowlove, thank you . My clinic are just confusing and have given me contradicting info at times so I was concerned.

Thanks for your messages. Appreciate the support . Hopefully I won’t be too crazy tomorrow. ❤️

Hi there Yellowlove

Hope you don’t mind me messaging you. I wanted to ask if you were doing the daily prontogest injections yourself and if so how you found them? I have done them before but in my thigh which was very painful. I’m going to do them in my bottom this time! The nurse suggested laying on my side and showed me where to administer. Do you numb the area with ice before or any heat afterwards to disperse the oil?

Thanks so much

Jules 😊

Hi Jules, not at all. I have not enjoyed them at all if I’m honest, but I think the fear is worse than the actual act. I have done a lot of them myself and only once in the thigh. That one time I did it in the thigh I couldn’t walk for three days - I would not recommend there at all. I stand in front of the mirror and do it in the buttocks. I usually heat up the vial first next to a hot water bottle then once injected I walk around for a few minutes to get the muscle moving, and hold the hot water bottle to the area to help the medication disperse. I still get lumps tbh it’s a lottery, and quite hard to find a good spot right now. I’ve heard showering afterwards, ie the warmth, helps. A few times I’ve sat on my hot water bottle straight afterwards for a while and that helps too x

Thank you so much, that is helpful. The main concern for me is keeping to the upper outer part, to miss the sciatica nerve. How are you managing when you have been on them so long or are you having to administer all over the bottom? Do you dart it and push the needle in quickly or slowly? I was told quickly is best! I think once I’ve done it once I won’t be so unsure of it all. Like you say the thought of it is worse than the doing. 😊

When I started, I got my clinic nurse to put a dot in the correct area. I just worked around that dot for a while and kept adding another each time it came off. After a while you just get used to the right areas. They told me to imagine splitting the buttock into four quadrants. Anywhere in top outer quadrant is fine. Always quick dart like motion is better I have found, and push the liquid slowly in, have your tissue ready for when you pull it out as sometimes a little liquid follows the needle out xx.

I had levels around this on my last cycle and the clinic were pleased with it and made no changes to my progesterone based on the level xx

Thanks skittles, I wasn’t sure of levels, and they don’t volunteer much info . I was worried it was too low on day of transfer. They did the blood test a few mins after the transfer , which never makes sense to me . What if it’s too low or too high ? 🙄

I was at 93 on the pregnancy test day and my clinic wants to be more than 100 to be sure at a high side. They increased my progesterone immediately and it is 250 now. The nurse says it is great and continues with current doses.

Hi lovely, my clinic always wants the levels to be over 50 on transfer day.... I think mine were in the region of 100 on Beta day - as I was on so much.

200 sounds good - don't worry xx

Thanks. I’m concerned that I think she said my level on transfer day was on 14 🙄

It was 2 on day of collection and I did a day 3 transfer. Xx

I've had transfers where my levels have been 19/ 20 on test day and they just upped it and it was fine.

The job of progesterone is to stop your uterus shedding the lining, so as long as you're not bleeding I wouldn't worry too much.

xx

Thank you. Was stressing a bit because most research shows it should have been higher on day of transfer . Glad I didn’t transfer day two now, it would have been even lower .

I always think It’s odd how they test my blood just after the transfer instead of before . Well it’s all the right level now so hopefully I’m in with a chance xx

They always say that as the embryo doesn't implant for at least 2 - 3 days it doesn't matter if the levels are low on transfer day - if they up it then there is enough time for your levels to rise xx
