TTC naturally with cyclogest - success stories?

Hi everyone I am new here,

I am 31 and have been TTC for nearly two years and have had one chemical pregnancy. I have pre-period spotting up to six days before my period and have been told my progesterone levels are low in my luteal phase.

Have just started cyclogest (2 x 400mg) a day from 1DPO.

Please could anyone let me know if they have had a BFP after using cyclogest to support progesterone levels? And how many cycles it took to get there?

Thanks so much xxx

Hi Gberry50

I’m also trying progesterone this cycle and get spotting 6 days before my period, although my 21 day progesterone test has always been at a level to confirm ovulation so has never been looked at any further. I’ve had 1 chemical and a pregnancy in ‘21. I’m trying progesterone for a few cycles before moving to IVF as I’m older.

Good luck, I’d love to know how you get on. x

Hi BonBea,

My 21 progesterone test was also enough to ovulate (30) but just on the threshold. My low progesterone levels were picked up through transvaginal ultrasound I had done privately. My BBT temperatures also dip on the first day of spotting.

I am also going to give this a go for a 3-4 cycles. We have delayed IVF for a few months to give this a chance. NHS have said it is unexplained infertility. Both of us have had private investigations and the low progesterone issue is the only thing that has come up so far.

How come you are trying progesterone this time round? And how did you get it prescribed?

Good luck to you too xxx

Exactly the same here, progesterone 30nmol and bbt dip on first day of spotting. We’ve had all the tests done in ‘20 and again in ‘23 and we’ve been told unexplained.

I’ve had to push for it - I said to the clinic that I’d like to try something less invasive before going to IVF and would it hurt to try and they agreed. I am having to have monitoring scans and they’ve said it’s only a short term (2-3 cycles) treatment.

Have you got it prescribed privately or through the nhs? Are you having to have scans as well? Xx

Sounds like you did really well to get them to prescribe it for you! I had a monitoring scan for the first cycle but will just use ovulation sticks to time when to take it going forward.

Just hoping it stops the spotting as that is a good sign your body is responding well to to it.

I got mine prescribed privately so now have a plan to try this and then have the NHS follow up in 3 months so will have to see how things go.

Really hope it works for you xx

Sorry to bump this but did you get your levels re-tested when you used cyclogest? I had levels of 31.8 on day 20/21 so confirmed ovulation but obvs low like you guys so I was going to try cyclogest (x2 400mg) when in-between IVF (then obvs using it with IVF too). Was hoping to maybe get another blood test next cycle when using it to see if I'm absorbing it correctly as I technically have had one chemical on cyclogest with IVF) xx
