Cyclogest

Hi everyone. Just wondered how long everyone took Cyclogest for after a BFP?. When i called in my results on test day they mentioned about getting a new prescription so i have enough to last till 12 weeks. However i went for my 7 week scan yesterday and the nurse told me i dont need it and as a clinic they dont prescribe till 12 weeks like some clinics. I had no blood tests to check my progesterone levels. Interested to hear everyones thoughts. I can check with my midwife on Tuesday as i have enough left for 1 a day but nor sure if she will test me or not.

I was initially told I’d be on them until 12 weeks but earlier this week they said I’d stop cold turkey if 8 week scan ok 😬. I’ve got loads so think if I get that far I’ll wean them off a bit! Scared to stop!

My clinic says to stop at 7 weeks as that’s when the placenta takes over making enough but they said if I’m anxious I can switch from prontogest to pessaries at 7 weeks until 10 weeks x

Ps ask to have your progesterone levels checked - mine were only 5.9 on day of transfer so I was switched from lubion to prontogest and my levels went to 93 x

Thanks everyone. Defo going to check with my midwife then

Does anyone know what my progesterone level should be at week 8?

I would go with your clinic’s advice or if you have any left you could take them until you run out. You could also tell them you want a longer prescription. The midwife might not be able to help as it’s not routinely prescribed on the NHS. I took mine until 12 weeks but other clinics stop earlier (I didn’t have my levels checked) x

Hi Tina, I know I am the exception here but my clinic gives pressaries up until one day after confirmated pregnancy and they don't test progesterone level either. x
