Good morning. Because of bleeding since the day of the positive, I have been using 1800 progesterone / day (both Cyclogest + Utrogestan) in a Frozen Embryo Transfer in natural cycle (so I should also have my own progesterone from corpus luteum).
I am now really worried, my pregnancy is going well but I would like to know if you think there could be any harm for the baby... I dont know what to do.
Thank you so much.

I am on 1400 Cyclogest + Ultrageston as well as Duphastone which is a synthetic progesteron not registered in the UK. I was told there isn't really a such thing as taking too much. The only 'risk' is having slightly stronger pregnancy symptoms (sleepiness, headaches etc), but that depends on how your body reacts to progesterone in general. This is a peer-reviewed medical paper that confirms no risks to the baby and states that for oral doses of micronised progesterone (thats ultrageston) to be effective need to be at 900-1600. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl.... Hope this helps and good luck wth your pregnancy
I was told to put all of them in vagina... Do you still think 1800 is it a safe dosage?Thank you so much. I am really worried. I pray for a healthy baby finally 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 Hope the same for you ❤️
I just want to say I 100% understand your anxiety; we waited sooooo long for that positive and now have to 'sit and wait' worried about all the symptoms, medication etc! From what I understand, the only time when too much progesterone might be an issue is pre-implantation, as it makes your body and embryo fall out of sync and make implantation more difficult. But once the embryo is 'in', the sky is the limit our body will simply not use the progestogen that it needs (it is used to support healthy lining, therefore, usually supplemented when bleeding occurs), so it doesn't actually have much to do with the baby itself I think they have put you on what seems like a high dose, just because you were spotting, and they wanted to elevate your progesterone levels ASAP and make sure your body maintains it. And vaginally, it is absorbed much quicker and without the risk of not absorbing it properly in your digestive system. But it sounds like it worked, and you probably needed that dose just to be safe. My preyers go out to you, good luck, you've got this girl!!!
Thank you very much for your wonderful response. The truth is that with people like you, everything seems easier. In the end I think we do everything possible to get pregnant and then it is true that, depending on where we look, the treatments they give us do not seem to be so 100% safe (in my case, you already know that I am talking about the enormous doses of vaginal progesterone). I have been taking the progesterone with great faith because I was very afraid of "losing the pregnancy", but one day I decided to read something about it and found some information that I didn't like too much.
But I trust that everything will be fine and we will be lucky to be mothers of healthy babies 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏(which is surely the only thing we all ask for).
it should be fine, and probably beneficial! There’s no negatives to taking lots of progesterone- other than more symptoms for you and it may possibly irritate your vagina (I took two of my cyclogest rectally for this- uttogestran has to be vaginal but Cyclogest can be rectal. I took 3 Cyclogest a day and one Lubion injection so was on even more than you, also on a natural FET cycle. I took Lubion till 11 weeks and I took the Cyclogest till 16 weeks. I also had bleeding early on and so I was super cautious. Some people are on progesterone in oil which can be even higher amounts of progesterone as goes straight into the muscles.
I’m almost 22 weeks now and not on any progesterone since 16 weeks and so far everything is fine 🤞🏼
I had been on less progesterone for my first two transfers and they didn’t take.
It's really hard for me to put into words how much you are helping me. I think that in my case my dose is a little higher (given that I also combined cyclogest with utrogestan), however I am calmer now and I think that if so many clinics prescribe relatively high doses, they will have their experience and their reasons for doing so... And obviously it will be thinking of us (and our babies ❤️).
It is true that my initial dose was going to be lower (1200mg/day) but it went up as the bleeding did not stop, and I ended up with 1800 practically from week 4 to week 9, when I began to decrease. And all of them in vagina, so a bit itchy 🤣
So really similar to my case and my dosage. (was it also Cyclogest 400?). Hopefully in a few months my situation will be the same, and I'll write to help others with my healthy baby sleeping next to me...
I am 5 weeks pregnant after a fresh transfer and I’m on 2500 a day- 6 cyclogest and 1 prontogest. I don’t think doctors would put us on it if it wasn’t safe. I’m having levels checked every other day and my progesterone is sitting around 200. Progesterone supports pregnancy so the more the better is say!
Rosie, thank you so much for your answer. I think the same, all of this should be safe things since they are prescribed by doctors. It's just that it is inevitable to ask questions, with the enthusiasm that we put into it and how difficult it can be. And when I see that our doses seem higher than other girls.
I sincerely hope that a year from now we will both be happy with healthy babies by our side 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
