looking for some reassurance

Hope everyone is ok. Sorry if this is a silly question, but I am 3dp5dt and my clinic said to carry on as normal just no sex, swimming or running a marathon. Today I wasn’t thinking and cleaned up after our electrician - I carried a pretty heavy Henry hoover up to our loft room. I didn’t think anything of it at all until I just went down a google rabbit hole of people saying don’t hoover, which has just caused me to have a complete breakdown.

It’s done now and I can’t change it, so just hoping from some reassurance to help my anxiety. Thank you xx

Hello 🙂 try not to worry. Some people have toddlers that they are picking up throughout treatment. When I had my successful transfer I had just got a young rescue dog as I assumed the treatment would fail and I'd need a distraction. Anyway my new dog tried to go down a nook between our shed and a tree, she was a bit of an escape artist wannabee and I literally had to get on hands and knees and pull her back to me by her tail - there was a lot of resistance from her.

The embryo did implant despite all of that (did not make it to birth but that was for totally different reasons).

Don't worry xx

Thank you Skittles for the reassurance ♥️ I feel so silly getting upset over hoovering/carrying a hoover. If I were trying naturally, I wouldn’t think twice - so much anxiety and heightened emotion with ivf.

We’ve just put our names on a waitlist for a dog, I hope she’s brought you lots of joy.x

Hi Elsidee, pretty sure if this was too much exercise for you, you would have felt it. I had the same panic in the summer after carrying all my shopping from the car to the front door at once. I didn't even consider I shouldn't and I realised once I got it in the house that I was knackered and stupid and so I put my feet up for five minutes. We can't stop living - people who fall pregnant naturally don't. I have never considered that I shouldn't take my Henry up the stairs, and have definitely done it!

(Sounds like a great reason not to hoover in future though...!!)

Thank you so much WillowPark. You’re right, I lug that Henry everywhere normally, as we live on a building site and I’m always hoovering brick dust (it’s a Henry XL though 😒). So it was just a totally naturally thing for me to do. 🫣 I think there’s soo much over the top advice on the internet, it’s hard to not worry. I even saw one post that said don’t bend down 😅

But I’m definitely going to save Henry for the husband from now on!! X

I completely understand! We decided to do the Grand Designs style renovation while TTC. At least one project was successfully completed... 🤣 Sometimes on a building site you just can't avoid getting the Henry XL out. But they say it's important to look after yourself mentally, and there is nothing more mentally satisfying and peaceful than looking round a room after the trades are gone and the Henry has been round 🙂 xx

Henry might be heavy but that’s really not going to do you or embaby any harm at all! I remember having a similar googling nightmare from moving a cupboard. All was well!

They only say no marathons because exerting yourself to an extreme like a marathon might do something bad. No Swimming because of the risk of infection after they have been poking at your cervix and I’m not sure about the sex because we were told to carry on as normal. I imagine similarly to swimming about the risk of infection maybe?

There are women like a friend from work still lifting weights into their third trimester! I would only now avoid it because hoovering is a rubbish job and because it’s making you anxious. X

The no sex is due to the fact it can make your uterus contract. Guessing Henry doesn’t have that effect 😂😂

thank you Kittykat, I really needed to hear a positive story - I’m glad all was well. I phoned my husband in floods of tears - google plus hormones does not mix well. The anxiety and stress is probably worse than bloody Henry 🤪 x

My first transfer was fallowed by two weeks of strict rest, daily walkes, diet, no work, you name it, I was very village and it sadly didn't work. The second time on the evening of my transfer day I forgot that I can't lift and shifted a table before I realised I must have lifted at least 10kg. I've then taken a flight the next morning and even though I though I packed light I was lagging an 8kg backpack (trying to lift with my knees when I remembered). From day 3 onwards I resumed my normal activities and this included digging up a whole garden ahead of winter, and I mean shifting soil for 4h two days in a raw. I hoovered my two storey house and I have a Henry Hoover so that beast is not light! Basically, my doctor said if you did it before the transfer you can do the same after from day two onwards. I'm now 5weeks pregnant, my first check up went well, just waiting for my first scan. I was definitely way happier staying active during the 2WW. Hope this helps!

Huge congratulations on your bfp 🙏🏼 I was extremely strict my first transfer and it didn’t work either - I’ve definitely been a bit more care free this time, until my panic this evening. I’m also glad to hear I’m not the only person that uses a Henry 😅

Wishing you all the best for your scan and for the rest of your pregnancy. Thank you for the words of comfort xx

I would not worry. We put so much pressure on ourselves due to IVF but carrying on as normal includes cleaning and living your life. My clinic told me to not start anything new exercise regime but told me I could still exercise. I chose not to at the time but I got plenty of “exercise” in during my two week wait as we were moving house from London to Liverpool.

My husband was still working while I was off work so I was forced to do most of the packing and moving boxes short distances eg from the living room to the spare room. I left the heaviest for my husband but definitely lifted, shifted lots of boxes and laundry bags. Also did the 5 hour journey from London to Liverpool in the car twice and was forced to eat fast food during the journey . I still got a BFP against the odds (my age) and all that activity and now have a daughter who is almost 2 years old.

Please try not to worry and I hope you get the outcome you desire 🙏🏾

Thank you for sharing your story JoyfulStar 🙏🏼 it’s so reassuring and this is why platforms like this are amazing. I’m glad to worked out for you ⭐️ I hope I get the same outcome someday soon x

I hoovered after my recent transfer and got a positive. It wasn’t a Henry but I am sure picked up heavy items during that 2 weeks period, it’s impossible not to. Apparently embaby is like a grain of rice embedded in a jam sandwich, I think you shouldn’t worry xx

Thank you Yellowlove , I like that comparison - it really is tiny isn’t it. Weirdly in our minds it’s much bigger and can be knocked and moved 🫣 congrats on your positive ♥️
