I posted on here after our second embryo transfer failed in December and your replies and support meant the world to me at the time - Thank you so much lovely people xxx
Today's question is when do you trust the doctor/nurse/clinic and when do you trust your own gut instinct?
Firstly, After our second FET failed, we attended our follow up appt and were basically talked out of doing any additional tests at this stage (We are having NHS treatment but were prepared to go private to have the tests done) The specialist was lovely, very reassuring and thorough and she basically said it can take 3-4 goes for this to work, there's no obvious reasons why it has failed so far, all my bloods are normal (she re-did them that day as well) . I still wish we had gone and had some additional tests done, more for my peace of mind than anything else but hubby feels we need to trust the professionals.
Secondly, she recommended doing the lining scan earlier when we did our next FET transfer round. I have just started my cycle on Saturday and am taking Progynova (Oestridiol) only as the Buserelin completely disagreed with me last time. When I contacted the clinic, they have said they will do my lining scan on day 20 of my cycle... this seems really late and I can't get my head around it. They've also said they "only do the FET scans on a Thursday" which seems completely mad?
Anyway, sorry for the rant... I suppose I am really looking for some reassurance and positive people to tell me not to worry and everything will be ok! This is such a cruel and frustrating journey and I am finding it really hard to get back into a positive mindset as we jump on the rollercoaster for round 3!

As you I’ve became frustrated with FETs to this point that I’ve started to believe it’s not for me...well was wrong currently 17wks pregnant with number two!
My first child is also ivf baby, he was conceived via fresh ivf attempt (second go). From this cycle we had 6frozen embryos day 5!
We decided to give it a go with medicated FET, we knew from start that FET have bit lower chances of conceiving and we are basically unexplained reason for ivf! But I think I have issues with holding on embryos and so I was asking for proper progesterone support which was for me progesterone in oil injections (PIO). I also think that each time when transfer was done via monitored way Ive got better outcome!
Summary:
#1 FET - one embryo transfer, PIO. Monitored transfer. BFP on 6dp5dt. Sadly mmc after viability scan week 7! I also was spotting since week 5pf pregnancy
#2 FET - one embryo transfer, PIO plus cyclogest pessaries, transfer not monitored. Bfn
#3 FET - two embryos transfer, 4AB and 3ab. PIO +cyclogest, mock transfer just before real one, monitored transfer. BFP with single baby!
With me I was pushing a bit my clinic with what can be offered to me. They do not normally give progesterone in injections to start from they also not provide always monitored transfers. Apparently I think this is one in list of conditions which could help out to became positive well in mine case this was needed!
Trust your body if you think there is something you should get during the treatment to help you out next time just ask them sometimes clinics as mine try to go cheaper way which is not always reasonable!
I would have said if the consultant said she would scan you earlier then that's what the clinic should be doing....can they not get you in the Thursday before?! I would query this with them and say "the consultant said...." Im like you and stopped buserelin as it was killing me and things were smoother for me. From past experience Im usually on progynova for around 20 days (I usually take some time to get my lining thick enough) before I add in progesterone and we are going to aim a bit earlier next time around as we now know what dose I respond to (its taken a few go's) so no need to up doses and rescan several times. My clinic dont like you being on progynova for any longer than the 20 days, this is their maximum. I also took gentle steriod cover for the last cycle as we were literally tearing our hair out as to what to do different having had 5 BFN's under our belt. I did get a BFP this time but sadly it didnt stick. The consultant is right in the fact that sometimes we need a few go's for this to work, A) - to understand what works for you and how you respond to drugs and B) Its all a bit of a bloody lottery! Some of us are just incredibly unlucky!! Best of luck!!xx
Thanks so much for your reply Cinderella5! I think I am definitely going to push to at least have the scan earlier... lining has never been an issue for me and I naturally have a shorter cycle so the thought of stretching it out is really nerve-racking! This is such a painful and emotional process - I can't believe how naive I was in the first cycle, thinking it would all happen straight away!
Well I hope the clinic can scan you earlier! I dont think any of us know what we're really letting ourselves into when we first start this....its a steep learning curve and Ive learned you have to push for things sometimes. Wishing you all the best.xx
Had success today - They will scan on day 10 and go from there! So pleased I pushed for what I felt was right... I also think it may have been a communication breakdown between the specialists and the nurses who man the emails and book the scans in. Pays to stick to your guns!
