Another day 2 fresh transfer

Despite the increased dose of Pergoveris and having a double trigger shot of Ovitrelle I still only had two eggs collected, or which just one fertilised - so exactly the same pattern as my first round of ivf.

So on Friday I had another day 2 transfer. As per last time they said it was looking like a good embryo and had split into 4 cells.

The transfer itself though was a far cry from the ease of my first one. Firstly they insisted I do a fingerprick pregnancy blood test because during egg collection they saw something next to my lining, which I explained could not possibly be a pregnancy sack because we’ve been abstaining as advised and that it’s more likely to be my adenomyosis which they’ve previously detected. But they wouldn’t take my word for it so I had an extra 20 mins wait on a full bladder that was getting more uncomfortable by the minute while they did the test which was obviously negatively and then did a further internal scan.

I just wanted them to get on with it so we could get on with the transfer and I was trying to stay as calm as possible. The Dr was faffing around for ages repositioning whatever she was putting inside me before placing the catheter. She was also unhappy with where the nurse was holding the ultrasound on my belly so one handed was taking over and then going back to whatever she was doing. When she called “ready” for the embryologist to bring my embryo through she seemed to then take ages to get it in position and put it in. The whole process was making me feel nervous things weren’t going well and she offered me no reassurance.

As this is my second (and final) round that we’ve paid for as part of the two cycle programme - I think we’ve definitely look to go elsewhere if we need to do a third round. The problem is it was the one and only clinic in East Anglia. But they do have a second site at Cambridge which is meant to be better so I think it would be worth the 1.5hr drive.

Would be interested to hear how far other ppl travel for their treatment?

So I’m now in the 2WW again and though I’ve been through it before I’m still finding it hard not to read into every symptom (mostly cramps and needing to pee a lot).

Sending baby dust to all

Hello HoneyB11, I feel your pain , propably I would cry after this whole process. It's enough you have to deal with IVF so obviously you expect to do everything as smooth as possible if it's obviously possible. I hope your baby that time is coming and you won't need to go to another clinic. Stay positive, my transfer number 3 will be next Thursday. I am so happy.

I am using a clinic in Spain. So 2.5hrs to the airport, 2.5hr flight. 30 mins taxi to the clinic. More costly and time consuming than UK clinic, but I’m 💯 happy with my clinic and they have been amazing. I just felt after research that clinics abroad are much more advanced with better success rates. X

Hi Hiney I just wanted to say I've had 7 transfers. The first 6 went smoothly, over quickly and no pain. On the 7th my bladder was too full (they were half hour late) and we couldn't get the right position. I was crying, in pain, and couldn't look at the screen so didn't see the embryo going in... but it has been successful (so far I'm 12 weeks...!) So although it might have been a horrible experience, mine was too and it made no difference to the outcome! Wishing you luck for your 2ww xx

(Ps I've been to 3 diff clinics. Most recent was 45 mins for a satellite clinic for bloods etc, but had to go to London for the actual procedures which took about 2 hours each way!)
