We had our day 3 transfer today, however the embryologist informed us that our little embryo was developing a bit slower than expected. It was only 5 cells and they would expect it to be 8 cells at this stage. We were advised to go ahead with the transfer as, although there is a lower chance of pregnancy, there’s still a chance.
Anyone else been in a similar situation?
Trying to stay positive but it’s very hard.
Going to be a long 2 weeks....

No advice but wanted to wish you luck. Your embryo is back in the best place rather than the lab so take it easy & fingers crossed. You've done all that you can.xx
I had a 3 day transfer on Wednesday & it was only a 4 Cell. Trying to keep positive and have read on other forums that people have had success & gone on to have a healthy pregnancy. Keeping my fingers crossed for you xx
Thanks so much for sharing your story. It’s so hard to stay positive isn’t it but I keep telling myself they wouldn’t have gone ahead with the transfer if they didn’t think it had a chance. Will keep my fingers crossed for you too. Let’s hope we both have little fighters ❤️ Wishing you lots of luck and love during the 2ww xx
It's such a lottery. I spoke to the embryologist last week about extended culture but she said they need to defrost more for the best chance of getting to day 5. You have to fight with the thought that it won't leave you with many left and less chances. Then they tell you that day 2 and day 5 are the best days and 3 isn't as successful, so when your embryos only get to day 3 and are being slow aswell it's difficult not to feel like there isn't any hope but I am staying very positive and just carrying on with life as normal & keeping busy during the 2ww. That's the best we can do for our little embys....lots and lots of positive thoughts 🤞🤞🤞 xxx
Hello. I had a day 3 transfer on Tuesday. I was disappointed that it didn’t go to day 5 but then the professionals know best I keep telling myself. And our womb is the best incubator. Now they are back where they belong. Fingers crossed for all of us 3 day transfers and here’s hoping that we get our BFP. Xxx
Thanks for sharing your story Emma, and your positive words ❤️ you’re right, they are where they belong so let’s hope they thrive. Wishing you lots of luck for a BFP ❤️ xx
I got pregnant my first cycle with a 5cell embryo after a day 3 transfer, so it can happen! We did lose the baby at a later stage unfortunately, but I partly put the success down to being away on a lovely stress free holiday in the glorious British weather last summer 😎 Good luck, I’ll have my fingers crossed for you xx
Thanks so much for sharing your story. I’m so sorry you lost your baby, it’s heartbreaking.
I have quite a stressful job which I’m worried about during this very early stage. Seriously thinking about getting my doc to sign me off work for a few days.
Thank you. This time last year I was in the 2ww for that cycle, so it’s so hard that it still hasn’t happened for us 😢
I am in the same situation with work and if I could turn back time would definitely have asked to be signed off for a few weeks at least. I’ll always wonder now if it would have made a difference, so think it would be a idea for you if you have concerns about how work might affect things. Sometimes you just have to allow yourself to be selfish and not beat yourself up about it xx
With little “beans-to-be” every scenario has countless times over become sons and daughters. It’s impossible not to worry, but remember to think good thoughts. Best of luck to you from Virginia. ( :
Aw, I agree your little embie is back in the best place for it.
My day 3/4 update was that it wasn’t going that great but because I was freezing there was nothing I could do about it. By day 5 it had a great growth spurt and was of a really good quality to freeze, hopefully your little one is doing the same thing inside you right now. Good luck in the 2WW xx
Thank you so much for sharing this. That really does give me hope. I was feeling really down yesterday but all you lovely ladies have made me feel much better ❤️
Wishing you all the very best of luck with your little frozen embie ❤️ xx
Hi Littlemermaid, just thought I'd share my experience with you as I literally lived off these sites when I were going through the ivf process. We were told we had to have a 3 day transfer as I only had one embryo, out of 6, that had survived the fertilisation process and it was only an average embryo and was probably better off inside me. It was 8 cells but they said it was more on the average side. I kept the faith and I'm now 17 weeks pregnant with a little girl I found reiki helped me a lot with the whole relaxation process. Hope this helps x
