Hoping to find a consensus re: dates of stopping hormone treatment for those with premature ovarian failure going through IVF. Recently thrilled to get a BFP following D5 DE FET (still early days, only 4.5 weeks along). My clinic seem to adopt a 'one-size fits all' approach and stops progesterone (utergestan pessariesx3/day) and estrogen (progynova x4/day) at week 7 of the pregnancy and im conscooius that this likely doesn't cater for those who are routinely on HRT. Outside of IVF, I don't get a period unless on HRT. I was wondering if anyone in a similar situation kept going with hormone treatment beyond this point?
Thanks in advance.

Hi, I'm 12 weeks and 1 day pregnant and my clinic advised me to stop at 7 weeks and I did and everything is fine and our little boy is doing well in there
Hi Buzzler, congratulations!! I am not in the same situation as you re ovarian failure (although I do have PCOS and can only have a period on medication). Anyway, my clinic had a blanket rule of stopping meds at 12 weeks but I was on progesterone injections on top of the pessaries and I started getting a really bad itchy rash at the injection site that was getting bigger by the day. At 8 weeks I had an obstetrician appointment and she was very certain it was fine to stop all medications as the placenta takes over (at 6 weeks I think) and produces its own hormones. Her view was that the ivf clinics like to be overly cautious but there is no need. I double checked with my ivf doctor and she agreed it was best to stop.
hi I won’t stop till 14 weeks, I would keep going till 10, reduce at week 12 then reduce again and stop at 14. I’m obviously not a doctor but my clinic seems to be pretty successful and that’s the protocol I’m following. Good luck xx
Hi Buzzler. Could you ask about slowly weaning off progesterone, it would probably make you feel more reassured. Hope all goes as it should. Good luck. Diane
