Anovulation following IVF..

Hello ladies,

Just out of curiosity, has anyone had a delayed period after IVF cycle failure? I’m normally like clockwork and seem to be 4 days late (the first time ever!).. I’ve had quite a lot of cramping up until about a week ago and now nothing! Am thinking the drugs have knocked my natural cycle out of wrack, just wondering if this is common?

Thank you xxx

Hi Jen, I had the same thing with my failed cycle in Oct last year. I was regular as clockwork before too and then my period was about a week late after the failed ivf. Every cycle since has been a few days longer than it was before ivf. I think it’s quite common so nothing to worry about xxx

Hi Jen, yes after my first failed IVF I was about a week late and the second failed IVF I was 3 days late. I think its just out bodies trying to find normality again. Good luck xx

Thank you ladies! I am waiting for it to start so I can start my meds for a FET.. Typical, every month I don’t want it to turn up it does and now I really want it to show it’s ugly face, it’s nowhere to be seen! Xxx

Ha ha so typical isnt it!! Hopefully it shows up soon so you can get the ball rolling 🤞

Thank you Claire. I had thought it would be a common side effect, hoping it could be the nice reason a period would come late tho! 😉 xx

Hi

I went straight back into normal cycles after failed ivf when we went through all the way to transfer however on my cycle when it was abandoned due to lack of follicle response, my cycle was 72 days, then 54 days, then back to normal. I think that one was due to my body just not liking the norithisterone and the cycle then being abandoned.

What was worse was that I started to have hot flushes etc. So I was absolutely petrified that the failed cycle had somehow brought on my menopause early. Luckily it hadn't and apparently that is a very common side effect.

Hopefully yours won't be as bad as all that! But also wanted to bring you comfort / let you know what you are going through is normal. Xx

Thank you.. I had a feeling it would be normal as our bodies do go through the mill! So far it’s just a late period coupled with a very heavy headache!

How frightening tho re early menopause, I did wonder if the whole IVF process meant menopause would be come earlier due to production of so many eggs but read it would effect it..

There’s also the torture of that tiny bit of hope that a late period could mean a pregnancy!! It’s like torture! Xx

Let's hope for that positive outcome 😁

I don't think ivf brings on early menopause at all - just that sometimes the side effects can mimic menopause. Thankfully that is totally different - although frightening just the same.

Fingers crossed for you xx

Yes it’s really common. My second period is usually delayed too.
