Hi, this is my first post here. I recently had my first round of IVF, did a day 3 transfer and got a BFP a week ago. I'm scheduled for a scan in two and a half weeks. I've had what feels like light cramps/bloating today and yesterday. I woke up during the night last night with what felt like a really bad sharp pain, like bad period pains. Its making me so anxious as I don't know if this is normal or not? I've never had a BFP in over two years of trying and this is my first attempt at IVF. I've not had any bleeding/spotting, but not sure if that's because the progesterone I'm taking would prevent any bleeding? The only pregnancy symptoms I've had is tender breasts, but that seems to have stopped now. My clinic doesn't offer blood tests so I have no idea what's happening until I get my scan. I'm scared to do any more tests at home in case I get no line or a faint line.
That was probably such a ramble, I don't really know what I'm asking! I guess I just needed to get that off my chest or to see if anyone else is in the same position or has been and can tell me if any of what I'm feeling is normal?
Thank you for reading.

I’m in the exact same boat! My clinic basically asked if my tests were positive and said see you in 4 weeks for a scan 😂.. anyway not only did I book a private scan myself for 2 weeks time I also contacted my GP and got my bloods done to see my HCG levels and getting them done again this week! Just contact your doctors and explain your anxieties and worries state you want reassurance ..
I also get bad cramping but had no bleeds! From what I read it seems quite normal?
Thank you for replying and congrats on your positive! I didn't think the Dr would just give blood tests, I think I'm going to have to ask them as I don't think I can keep waiting for my scan with this level of anxiety. Good luck for your 12 week scan!
Congratulations on your positive too! As hard as it is to accept it 🤞🏽✨ .. it’s worth asking my doctors we’re happy to do it and when I rang for results I spoke about my worries and they asked me to come back as they’ll do it again for me, just to make sure the HCG level is going up!
I got pregnant in my 1st round of ivf (unexplained infertility) and experienced cramping and shooting pains. I also lost some old blood and a tiny bit of bright red blood. At my scan baby was fine but the pessaries were irritating the lining causing the bleed and I was advised to switch to taking them rectally and the bleeding and pains stopped. I now have a healthy nearly 18 month old and found out I had a spontaneous natural pregnancy who is due to appear next week. Good luck in your journeys. I hope you both have happy and healthy pregnancies.
Thank you for the reassurance and congratulations on both of your babies, that's great to hear! I've not had any spotting so I guess that's a good sign and I've only had the odd twinge so far today.
First of all congratulations on the BFP. I would take it one step at a time, for example you now hit the BFP milestone, next one is the scan in a few weeks’ time. I would try not to think about it (I know it’s hard) and occupy my mind with other things. Let us know how it went. Xx
Thank you. I've been trying my best to keep myself occupied, but like you say it's hard not to think about it. I was so shocked to get a bfp on our first try that I almost can't bring myself to believe that it might actually work out for us.
I understand. I started believing it might work for us and feeling less anxious when I entered the 3rd trimester. With all my heart, I really wish everything goes well for you. Take care.
Congratulations 🥳, I had my first IVF transfer in March and now I’m 7 months pregnant , I kept myself busy not over doing it just don’t google everything like I did will make u worry more I’ve learned to keep off the internet 😂 hope u have a happy and healthy pregnancy 🤰 x
Thank you and congratulations to you to! I definitely need to stop looking up symptoms online, it just causes more stress. I really appreciate everyone's lovely messages!
