I came off the contraceptive pill last November to try for our first baby and since have only had 5 periods with varying length between them (50 days, 56 days, 42 days, 40 days, 39 days) ….. after my last period in June (25th) I decided to try the clear blue advanced digital ovulation tests as I thought my cycles were settling down… I had 8 days of high fertility and then hit peak fertility on 23rd July….. I am now on day 52 of my cycle - negative pregnancy tests and feel a bit lost about what’s going on and what to do next as The test indicates I should have ovulated but maybe I didn’t 🤷♀️
I have been waiting for a gyno appointment for 6 months and have finally got an appointment now for October but so lost about what to do in between and the worry that there is something wrong as my cycles seem to be getting even longer!
Has anyone had a similar experience ??

Hi. I kind of know what you’re going through. When i first came off the pill I had regular periods but then a year later they’ve started to become really irregular ranging from 25 day cycles to 60 day cycles.
Have you spoken to your doctor to see if they can push your referal along? Or it might be possible to speak to a clinician at the hospital, I did that and they put me down as moderately severe so that it may help me get seen sooner.
I understand how you feel though! It’s frustrating ovulating then being late for your period but testing negative on a pregnancy test. When I had my first 60 day cycle I did about 5 pregnancy tests which were all negative and it was a really tough time for me.
Hopefully if the doctor can help push your referral, gyne may see you sooner.
I’ve spoken to my doctor he recommends to try get a sooner appointment but the gyno department haven’t been the easiest to deal with and say there is nothing they can do … so let’s see what October brings!
Im day 51 today and wondering if even to bother with another ovulation kit .. I’m not even sure when to start testing assuming I didn’t ovulate last month even though the test indicated I should have…
Yeah, sadly gyne aren’t the easiest to deal with and waiting times for an appointment are rubbish which doesn’t help.
I stopped doing the ovulation tests because I found it was confusing me even more cause it was showing that I was ovulating but then I wasn’t having a period, which doesn’t make any sense to me at all and it was starting to mess with my head a bit! But that’s just me and how I found it.
I really hope things get better for you and hope your cycles become more regular
Hi Crazymoose. I would have thought you should have been referred to a fertility specialist straight away. However, I wish you well and hope all ends ok for you. Diane
