Is it all over?

Hello, so I guess I'm looking for some advice please! I had my FET on Thursday last week (it was a 5 day double embryo transfer) and today I've started bleeding (it's just light at the moment). I'm on 3 utrogestan pessaries a day plus one lubion injection a day as well as 5 progynova tablets a day. I have this awful feeling my progesterone has nose dived and it's all over as I've never bled this early (there is still 7 days to go till my official pregnancy urine test date). Has anyone else been in this situation? I did for a moment think maybe implantation bleeding but I didn't have this with my first child (also IVF) and think it might be too early to see any implantation bleeding. I know one of the options is to sit it out and see if the bleeding gets heavier but is there anything else I can do? I'm not sure my clinic would advise anything else. I could take a pregnancy urine test but again surely it would be too early for detection? Thanks for your support everyone, my mind is in over drive x

I'm sorry to hear you're going through this, I know how scary it is to bleed after a FET. I bled heavily 4 days after my fresh transfer, but my hormones had taken a nose dive because of the trigger injection and my poor embryo didn't stand a chance. It sounds as though your bleeding is quite light in comparison - through my extensive googling over the last year, I know that many women bleed during the 2WW and go on to have healthy pregnancies. In my experience, 6 days post transfer is a little early to test and may just add to your anxieties if it's negative. I would suggest you carry on with all of your medication and maybe do a test around 9 days post transfer (which will usually give you the most accurate results). I know my clinic's stock response is 'keep taking your meds and test on the date we asked you', which is not entirely helpful and I never really got the reassurance from them that I was after. The being said, they may be able to advise whether you should up any of your meds as obviously everyone's protocol is very specific to their needs.

Sending you lots of good vibes and I hope things work out positively for you. 😀 X

Thanks so much for replying and for sharing your experience GB844, it was reassuring to hear your thoughts. I also bled after my last fresh transfer (although that was nearer the end of the 2WW), I'm sorry to hear about what happened to you and hope you're ok. I'm keeping everything crossed the bleeding stops and I'm trying to stay positive! Doing this all again for a sibling for my little one has been the hardest thing ever, brought me to tears so many times. Sending you love 💕

Hi JOJO. You had two embryos transferred, so maybe one did not stay. If this is the case, you nerd to continue with any prescribed medication and test on the day advised by your clinic. Speak to the clinic just in case they want you to increase your progesterone. Thinking of you. Diane.

Thank you Diane, yes you're right! This is our first double transfer so one (or two) embryos could still be in there hanging on so I'm going to stay positive, thanks so much for responding, it's been on my mind constantly about what to do today!

I have had this a few times, sometimes it’s my period (although never had that before test day now that I’m on lubion) one time it was a chemical with a double embryo transfer where bleeding stopped and started so not sure if I lost them at different times and one time it was my little boy but I did have a hematoma so had to take it easy. I did test at 7-8 days with them all which is why I knew which ones were chemicals vs didn’t stick at all as they showed on a FRER for me.

It may also be irritation from the 3 pessaries you are on. I’d be tempted to test and see what’s going on (although I am always tempted to test early 🤪) but without cramping and not a full flow it defo doesn’t mean the worst and only a test will tell you really (now or test day whenever you choose) wishing you luck xx

Thanks Twiglet2, the bleeding has stopped today and I'm wondering if it was the irritation of doing pessaries 3 times a day. I did try testing this morning but it came back negative but it may well have been far too early to test anyway. I've contacted my clinic to ask about doing a pregnancy blood test instead of waiting another whole week and hopefully that will provide some clarity. Thanks for sharing your experience, it has helped ease my mind xxx
