Scan after scare

I had my scan today (I'm 5 weeks, 5 days) and they could see gestational sac and yolk in my uterus so I'm not having an ectopic pregnancy. It's too early for anything else and I have my scan at the clinic next week.

I still have a really long way to go but I do feel reassured for a bit as no blood in my abdomen and my cervix is closed. They are putting the bleeding down to implantation. Luckily it has now stopped and been replaced with sickness (I threw up on a bush this morning on the way to the scan appointment!!!)

I have my fingers crossed firmly that all will be okay next week 🤞. I'm living day by day at the moment.

Wishing everyone lots of luck over the coming weeks and months wherever you are in your journey xx

Thank you. It's still very early days Daisy so don't worry as everyone is very different with symptoms. Some of my friends had no symptoms at all and healthy pregnancies xx

Fantastic news Hollie, fingers crossed for a healthy and happy pregnancy. Hope you feel more reassured, think it’s impossible to relax completely. I’m scrutinising my symptoms that seem much less today 😕

My scan isn’t until 16th January... feels forever away.

Let us know how your scan goes next week. Xx

HollieW in reply toEm2405

Thank you. Like you say it's impossible to relax but feel better than I did. My symptoms come and go as I think your body gets used to the hormones but when this is a surge/increase the symptoms then come back. I know it seems so long away, every day is a day closer though xx

So good to hear!

I cannot wait till my scan because I will not believe it until I see it. I have it on 8th Jan but it's just too far away lol

Want to go to EPAU to check it earlier!

I stupidly did a diluted urine pregnancy test to make sure I was still pregnant and of course the line was a little lighter and thinner than Mondays one so then I panicked

Convinced myself that was to be expected but my fear is my HCG levels are dropping and that may lose.one or even both the embryos .... I don't have any further bleeding but i don't have the signs and symptoms I did over weekend of cramping and sorer boobs. They're just a little sensitive and OCC pulling of abdomen but that's it.

You worry about the symptoms then you worry when you don't have symptoms (!) It's never ending

Wahey @throwing up. Who'd have thought we'd be cheering at getting morning sickness just because it shows us were pregnant (!)

HollieW profile image
HollieW in reply toSaya85

It is such a worrying time. If you want to go to the EPU before your scan I would as it gives you reassurance and then can do a blood test to confirm HCG as pregnancy tests will only tell you if you are pregnant, not the level. I actually haven't tested at home at all and just relied on blood tests as I'm worried I will become obsessed with testing.

Good luck in your pregnancy xx

My clinic don't test bloods at all and I'm wondering if we have twins!

As it's likely to send my thyroid haywire too

Damn I was going to ask the nurse to add it to my bloods but forgot

I'll see how I go over the weekend but don't know if it's too early yet as we are only 2weeks post transfer (so 4 weeks /4.5 weeks)

I don't think they see anything before 5 wks +

We're also waiting on the scan before we tell anyone so that's another agonising wait

I think I'll go next week! Thanks and wish you a smooth pregnancy from now on xx

It might be a bit early to see anything on a scan. Fingers crossed all goes well for you at your scan 🤞 xx

Oh what a relief. Thank you for sharing. It's such a scary time as it is without having the added stress of bleeding. I am so glad the scan went well. Xxx

Glad it's gone well and I hope it continues too. Sickness isn't fun- if it gets really bad be sure someone listens to you about it as it took a bit of time before mine was taken seriously xx

HollieW profile image
HollieW in reply toCC2018

It really isn't and I will go to my GP if the sickness worsens. At the moment I cannot work so am probably going to need signing off xx

My husband had me carrying round some of our dog's poo bags so I wouldn't throw up in the street! If they say you can have it ranitidine worked well for me and I stopped being sick at 21 weeks.

HollieW profile image
HollieW in reply toCC2018

If I move, I'm sick so currently bed bound and feeling sorry for myself. It's only really started in the last few days (I'm 6 weeks tomorrow) but I've been taken aback by how awful you feel. Not helped by the fact I'm still taking drugs to support the pregnancy xx

CC2018 profile image
CC2018 in reply toHollieW

It's horrible- I was sick so much I started bringing up blood and couldn't even keep water down. Aye a day in a and e hooked up to a huge iv bag and injected with anti Sickness drugs and hourly urine tests because I was too dehydrated. That was when they finally prescribed me something to help. Don't get me, i'm very grateful to be pregnant- nearly 3 years of trying, unexplained infertility, no pregnancies, offered 1 round of ivf and only had one viable blast who is our little miracle- but severeve sickness is very draining and difficult to deal with when you work full time. I hope yours settles down so you can enjoy your pregnancy xx

HollieW profile image
HollieW in reply toCC2018

I hope mine doesn't get that bad but my mother had awful sickness in her pregnancies and it can be hereditary. I feel like I've got a sickness bug and when I am sick I get no relief. I'm just trying to eat little and often and keep fluids down me. I hope your sickness has now eased xx

I was 5+5 when I had my scan and had same outcome,I just can’t stop worrying because there was no heartbeat.

Next scan isn’t until 16th xx

Thank you. I heard the heart beat at 6+3 and that is still early. Some do not hear the heart beat until 7 weeks as depends upon quality of equipment. It's still very early so try not to worry and good luck for next scan xx
