Thin lining medicated FET

Midsummer_daydream profile image

I had my base scan on Thursday on CD11 and my lining is only 7.2mm. I’m a little worried as this is the first medicated FET with 6mg estrogen daily (Elleste Solo 2mg, an HRT drug). Previously I had 2 natural cycle FET and my lining was much thicker 9mm. Since Thursday they have up my dose to 8mg estrogen a day, wonder if my body does not react well to this drug as it is for HRT, i.e generally use for longer treatment.

I’m also starting Lubion and Clexane from today CD14, plus 3 Cyclogest. Have my transfer booked on Friday next week meaning 6 days after injections. They won’t rescan me before transfer as they said I should have extra support from the injections.

I wanted to think positive and relax but the thin lining is now an added problem to the history of 2 failed FET. Anyone with the same experience please advise

I had similar - I had 2 extra days of estrogen and my clinic rescanned me and I went up to 8mm in that time, so they were confident it would be fine. Interestingly the success rates for FET start at a lower level, so lots so clinics see anything over 7mm as fine.

thank you for assuring Simmokt. I know the brand of estrogen/estradiol doesn’t matter but I can’t help but thinking the one they gave me isn’t as affective as other popular brand like Progynova. Thin lining wasn’t part of my problem until now

I have had a similar situation. I had two failed transfers where my lining was 7mm and 8mm. Two years ago I went in on the final day of my treatment to be told my lining was 6.9mm. I was gutted. I also was told that my lining wasn't flat.

Due to the unsuccessful attempts previous they considered transferring 2 embryos but said because of the lining being thin they could try just the one. I felt hopeless and stressed but the doctor reassured me that 7mm was a guide.

Two weeks later I got my first ever positive pregnancy test and I now have a 2 year old boy.

Please don't lose hope and please don't get too worried about it. I know that's easy to say but your lining will increase over the next few days as well. But it is possible to get pregnant with a thinner lining.

Best of luck for Friday

Your story lifted me up Tori, thank you. I’m about to transfer 2 this time round, let’s hope they don’t reverse their decision. They want to see 8mm and above, I only got less than a week to get that 1mm

hi no experience as I’m preparing for my FET and in the same boat. We started estrogen on day 3 6mg day and night. Was on it for 13 days and lining was on 7mm when scanned. I was then advised to take a menopur 75iu for Tuesday & repeat on Thursday. I went for a scan again on Friday and my lining was 8.67. I’m now taking 4mg day & night and my FET on Thursday. I’m also on 400mg of progestrone 3 times a day (1* 200mg orally and vaginally) don’t know if it will also help with the lining but thought il share.

My lining always struggled it was only 6.7 on my successful round and that was fresh cycle. I had so many cancelled rounds due to lining that in the end we decided to just go for it and it worked. They said appearance is more important than the numbers.... That said, yours still has time to thicken. Good luck xx

thank you for this. I think they were looking for 3 layers or something like a smiley face

Hi, sorry to hear about this it’s an added stress that you don’t really expect! Did they talk about the quality of your liking rather than thickness? That’s what my clinic always focussed on. I had a nightmare with thin linings and had several cycles cancelled because of it (have a look at my posts) but on my successful transfer my lining was 7.4mm at my last scan. Please don’t worry too much - if the quality is there anything over 7mm is good for most clinics and you just never know! Interestingly on the last 2 transfers I had my lining was thicker and both failed. Do everything you can - lots of water, gentle exercise, vitamin E, raspberry leaf tea etc, may just help you to feel you’re helping? Lots of luck!!

thank you, they didn’t mention much about the quality just said it looks okay. Previously they said my lining had 3 layers they were looking for so I hope this time it’s the same. Depending on the technician, this one wasn’t very talkative just documenting things
