Recurrent miscarriage advice

Hi I'm after some advice re recurrent miscarriages. I have now had three in a row and been referred to the recurrent mc clinic, however they have told me they won't have space till August and time is not on my side. The clinic I am at said they can treat me with aspirin and heperin in the meantime but just wondering if there is anything else I should be asking for?

In terms of my journey so far. My amh in Jan 2020 was 5.1. due to obvious delays I didn't start treatment till April 2021.

First cycle 5 eggs, 2 fertilised, one fresh transfer BFN.

Frozen transfer Dec 21, I was given 20mg steroids and HCG injection day after transfer, cyclogest and lubion every other day. This resulted in a BFP, this ended in a MMC at 7 weeks.

April 22 amh was only 2.1.

So moved clinics.

Fresh cycle in August, 6 eggs collected 3 fertilised, 2 embryos, grade 4AA and 4AB.

4AA transfer, with utrogeston. BFP ended in a MMC at 7 weeks.

FET 4AB transferred Oct, with utrogeston and aspirin, BFP, MMC (queried ectopic) at 7 weeks.

I am heading into my 3rd and last egg collection and the consultant had suggested treating me with aspirin and heperin due to delays at recurrent miscarriage clinic and my amh dropping ad it is, I am 37.

Has anyone any advice of anything else that could make a difference?

I was advised steroids are more to do with implantation and as this isn't appearing to be the problem they are not needed.

Oh I also have endometriosis and adenomyosis.

Sorry for the long post.

Heya,

I’m so sorry for your losses. It’s such a rollercoaster journey and can be very frustrating. Have you had all the tests done? The EMMA/ALICE tests? And NK Cell test? I guess a hysteroscopy could be an option to check everything is ok inside? One of my tubes was blocked and o had to have surgery to clip it to give me a better chance of success.

I haven’t had experience of recurrent miscarriage but had one miscarriage at 7 weeks in feb following a FET. It’s hard to tell if it’s to do with egg quality or something in the womb. I had the EMMA test to check for endometritis that can be treated with antibiotics. I didn’t have this but I did use canesflor pessaries which are to make sure everything is clear of any infection.

The other thing I did before another fresh cycle was to take a load of supplements recommended by a nutritionist who was an expert in Endometriosis. I also took coq10 which is meant to help with egg quality. I have stage 4 and also suspected adenomyosis. I also have done acupuncture to help.

Have you had any investigations and blood tests through the NHS for miscarriage? Sorry if all the things I’ve mentioned you’ve looked into. Wishing you the very best of luck with everything xxx

I am so sorry for your loss. I agree with Roobs it is probably worth have your uterus checked if you haven't already as things like fibroids can prevent embryos from implanting properly or growing properly. I think EMMA/ERA etc tend to be more relevant when you have implantation issues so your clinic may not offer if you have had a successful pregnancy. I had bloods for repeat MCs which indicated blood clotting issues (put me on blood thinners like you are), but I also had a hysteroscopy, an MRI and later a 3D SIS and they found I had a heart shaped uterus and a large number of fibroids too which all had an impact and could have caused them.

I was told by one consultant that early miscarriages tend to be caused by chromosomal issues so PGT testing could be an option, but the same consultant told me not to bother with that as I didn't often get many embryos and it risked them doing the tests so to just transfer every time. But then other consultants say different so not sure thats 100% accurate x
