hi everyone. Anyone with experience of cervical polyps please share. Anyone with information please share. I have just had my smear test and they found polyps on my cervix and I’m obviously worried about it., it makes one thinks of the work. Had a late miscarriage of my twins girls 3 years ago and I’m still looking forward to conceive again. Thank you all.

Hi I have had cervical polyps and I did have them removed. I was not trying to conceive at the time but can tell you that they remove in day surgery and takes a few days to recover. Once they remove as standard procedure they will biopsy them as well. It is a routine procedure and I took a couple days off work to rest and recover. Hope that helps.

Hi Leshu. I had to have a smear test before starting my second batch of IVF cycles (I purchased them in 2-cycle packages). During the smear, the nurse said i had a polyp on my cervix which bled quite easily when she was doing the procedure. I asked my consultant if it would interfere with IVF and he said he would proceed with it even with the polyp there, as it wasn't in the uterus and was facing out into the vagina. However, the fact it bled so easily worried me, as I could just imagine it getting knocked in the transfer process and I didn't want anything to impact my chances. So I asked the GP to book me in as soon as possible to get it removed. This was in the January and it took until April to get an appointment on the NHS at my local hospital. The removal itself was very straightforward and painless, I was in for maybe 2 hours in total (including paperwork etc) and was fine to get up and go home, no particular recover needed as it was straightforward and came away easily. I'm glad I had it done even though it meant a few months of delay xx

Oh, they did say I couldn't try naturally that month after the removal, if that affects anything... we would have been doing the deed maybe 5 days after the op, and as there is a chance of infection they advised me to abstain from intercourse for a fortnight, to be safe. Wishing you lots of luck with your decision xx
