Where removes a polyp?

I am trying to work out the best place to get this suspected polyp removed as my clinic won't go ahead with the IVF without a hysteroscopy and polyp removal. However, the the clinic and also the local NHS clinic that we also have been to both don't do polyp removal. I have a GP appointment tomorrow to get a referral (who know's how long that takes - could be months), and I am also looking in to it privately. Timing is a concern as we have just signed up to Access Fertility 2 year unlimited and the time is slipping away whilst we get this sorted. All the private hospitals I have looked in to - the cost seems to be about £2,500, which seems mega to me. Anyone have experience of getting a hysteroscopy/polyp removal?

Hi ttcemmie. Sorry to hear that your clinic won't help out - that seems strange. However, I'm sure your GP will point you in the right direction. Good luck! Diane

I found I had a polyp after starting a DE cycle, I had flights and hotels booked in Cyprus for the treatment. I didn't even try my GP and went private and paid £2,500. Only had to delay the cycle by two weeks and am now 33 weeks pregnant so all worth it. Stressful at the time though. Hopefully your GP appointment will be useful. Keep us posted xx

Hi BunnyHope. Thank you for your response; that's really helpful. I thought I was being a bit "out there" for even considering spending £2.5k on polyp removal, but it looks like it will be absolutely months on the NHS. Had my GP appointment today, so if I don't hear anything by the end of the week, I will chase, and then if nothing by the end of next week, go private. Where did you get it done, if you don't mind me asking?

I'm sorry but I had a feeling it wouldn't be a priority for the NHS. It's a difficult decision to make when you just want to get on with IVF! I had my two polyps removed at Pinehill Hospital in Hitchin, Herts and was very happy with the treatment I had xx

Thanks. It feels very in for a penny, in for a pound with IVF at the moment. Money just running through our fingers for it!

Hi,I just wanted to say with my first ivf they said I had it and wanted it to be removed before going ahead with ivf. Before all this I was on waiting list for nhs ivf list which took forever, they did a scan on me n they could not see them. So I went private hospital and the re-did the scan n saw them n told be to get it removed before they start.

I had the operation privately n then did ivf with them. I have a 4 months old son now :)

It’s better to have the operation because they say it affects the pregnancy or even getting pregnant.

Thanks Alisha. I really appreciate your comment. I think I am leaning towards the private route now. Calling around some places. Still have the NHS ball rolling in case I need one removed later down the line ;) Where did you get your polyp removed/how much did it cost, if it's okay to ask? Thank you.

Hi, I had a polyp removed via hysterscopy last week and I had to wait roughly 8 months from diagnosis (on the nhs) hope this helps xx

i can not believe a outpatient would have a wait that long if you have HBM you should get seen sooner in my circles women have a ultra sound then get sprung with a hysteroscopy some times with bad results wife only had 2 wait 6 weeks on the nhs and that was with a GA . Eve well on Harley street, London. are £1450 for sedation

Interesting, thank you! What is HBM?

I had my ultrasound in March of this year and then the actual hysteroscopy was on the 26h of November. (I had polyp removed) unsure what HBM means? The nhs in wales isn’t the best I’m currently waiting for an urgent colonoscopy (different issue) and have to be wait 24 weeks, which I think Is ridiculous xx

24 weeks that is not good so sorry

I know it’s ridiculous and that’s just to be seen by a consultant not the actual procedure.

that is why see and treat is sold as the answer

I had this done on the NHS and it was about a 5 month wait to have it done but then they had to stop the procedure as it was too painful (have a sensitive cervix apparently 🤷🏼‍♀️) then had to wait another 4 month to have it done again under general.

Would definitely recommend privately and push for general or sedation rather than just a local!

they always come up with a excuse realty is 25% are severely painful here is a support group there is also a closed group(no men) if you pm the admin facebook.com/HysteroscopyA/
