This might be a stupid question, but I will go ahead and ask.
ERA showed me post receptive on day 5.5, I did the test before starting the stims again.
After the cycle was completed I obtained 3 day embryos (2 were transferred fresh, OTD today but I know it is another BFN... ) I have 2 embryos left (10 and 8 cells) for an upcoming FET.
Is it possible to apply the results of the ERA test for FET with 3 day embryos? Is there even such a thing, or does it only apply to transferring blastocysts? In this case, if something like that is possible, it would mean performing FET on day 2.5 instead of 3.5, right? Was there somebody in this situation?
Sorry if this is stupid, my mind is a mess right now... I was so hopeful this time, I really felt it was different... I have never seen a positive test, my cute little embryos just don”t want to stick. I feel like I manage to obtain good embies and then throw them inside this furnace called uterus that does everything to destroy and reject them...😔

Hi AnitaGreat news in having 2 embryos left to transfer and also getting a result from the ERA as that very much could be the reason the previous transfers haven't stuck.
You can apply the ERA results to your little 3 day frosties. My understanding is that the clinic will work out that after they are transfered they will need 2 more days to reach blastocyst and then go back 5.5days from then to when you start taking progesterone to get your implantation window at the time the embryo is ready to snuggle in.
I asked a similar question and that was my clinics reply but do speak to your consultant and sure they will hopefully put your mind at ease.
Really hope this next time is the one for you 🙏 ❤️ xx
Hey Purple276, Thank you so much for your answer, it is very reassuring. I will ask my clinic, absolutely... I just wanted to see if this was even a thing, if anybody had been through something similar...
In my case, based on my ERA results, they would have had to put a 5day embryo back on day 4 of progesterone, so, because I have 3 day embies they will put them back at day 2 of progesterone, I guess...
I see that you were able to get your BFP after ERA, right? So happy for you! And you were also post receptive, if I understood correctly...
Yes, after 5 embryo transfers which didn't implant, No.6 after the ERA did. You never really know what was the magic combination as there are so many other factors but we can just try different things and give it our best. I always had a short cycle so it made total sense that I didn't need as many days progesterone. Hope your clinic can help clarify and you can get started on your next round in the new year 😊 xx
I wouldn't rely so much on the ERA. I was also post receptive at 5 days, transfered my pgt tested blast after 4 days and bnf! My second ERA after failed transfer came back pre- receptive after 4 days. Recent studies found ERA does not increase chances of live birth. Good luck with your journey
I'm sorry to hear you didn't have success after the ERA. Personally I definitely feel the timing they transfered the embryo helped me but I hope you find the answers that work for you and your body and have success in your next steps x
Thank you very much for your answer and sharing your experience. It seems sometimes it is all just a question of luck... with every transfer of the 4 i had, my dr changed something, and still so far nothing worked, all my betas were negative, 0... it is all so frustrating, I just don t know what to do, which way to go :(( all my embryos were looking very well, and still none stuck
I also had 4 transfers, 2x fresh untested AA blasts and now 2x FET transfers(both pgt tested) and never got a positive pregnancy test. I had two natural pregnancies two 2 years ago that ended in miscarriage and since then nothing! It's very frustrating and I also feel very confused. We are trying natural supported with my next fet.
When is your next fet scheduled? I am so afraid of any next transfer, I feel like everything is going smooth until the transfer, that is when it all ends, that is the moment when my babies just dissapear, along with my dreams of ever holding them in my arms...
I'm planning my next transfer end of Jan/beg of Feb. My anxiety is through the roof . I really don't know what else to do. We are trying natural supported this time without estrogen just a trigger shot and perhaps some progesterone support. I have read that high estrogen can make implantation window shorter. Another thing to try is to see RI, not sure if this is something you considered before. Having said that, my first pgt transfer was with full immune protocol and it still failed. I also had Emma and Alice tests done which came back negative. Im sorry we find ourselves in this position. I literraly never achieved a positive pregnancy with ivf. What changes have you made to your protocol so far?
I will be doing the transfer most probably also in February. So far I have tested almost everything, aside from PGT and the caryotype. I also have endometriosis and endometritis for which I had about 3 rounds of antibiotics so far, hopefully it is gone. I am scheduled for my 4th hysteroscopy on January 4th, hopefully this time will be ok.
For the first FET (4AA) I had a shot of Diphereline, Progynova, then low dose aspirin, low dose prednisolone + progesterone, no implantation
The second FET(3AB) was without Progynova (so a natural modified), with Ovitrelle for ovulation, then low dose aspirin, low dose prednisolone+progesterone, nothing...
The third FET (4AA) - exactly the same as the first one, but adding Clexane and Tacrolimus, again nothing.
Then I had ERA done, which said I was post receptive, the immunology testing (with some immunology issues, including nk cells + pro-inflammatory cells), then I had a third round of egg collection and did the fresh transfer of 2 embryos (3 day embies), with Intralipids on the day of transfer, high dose prednisone, high dose tacrolimus... nada.
I don t know where to go from here, I am sooo afraid of the transfer. I just wish to see that positive test...
RI is Reproductive Immunologist. But sounds like you had some testing done already. As your embryos are untested this also could be the reason for lack of implantation. Having said that mine were tested. Endometriosis can play a role in quality of your eggs too. Have you tried supressing with Lu*ron? It's easier than having lapo surgery. I read this is recommended for women with endometriosis. ERA didn't work for me so far. I had different reccomendation on both tests but yet to try their 2suggestion.
Hey! Sorry, I thought I had answered, but I guess I didn`t press the Reply button :))
Yes, I had a shot of Diphereline before FET 1 and 3, I was also taking birth control pills nonstop for 3 months prior to my 3rd FET. I am scheduled for hysteroscopy on January 4th and we will see from there... Apart from ERA and PGS testing I don t think there is something I haven`t tried... My dr says it is the embryo quality, that they stop developing after day 5... I have this feeling that it has to do with the endometrium as well... I am considering doing the ERA test again, as the first one (the one that showed me postreceptive) was done in April 2022.. I don t know if it is still valid...
Hey! How did the next transfer go? Following the results of the second era. Also I wanted to ask you how much time passed between the 2 era tests, if you had some treatment (antibiotic and such) ?
Hi anita85 - I totally reviewed myself on your comment. I am currently preparing for my biopsy (ERA), recommended after 3 failed embryo transfers. 2 fresh 1frozen
Not really sure why they don’t stick. Really annoying it is and plus I hate to take medication. I lost years of life, I can see my face doesn’t look the same as I carry more sadness than 3 years ago.
Hey there! I am so sorry for how you are feeling, if there is any consolation, I know exactly what you are going through... My doctor keeps saying it is most probably the fault of the embryos (that, however, have always been top quality) but my personal feeling is that is is (also) the endometrium, I have had 4 hysteroscopies so far, every time the endometrium has shown signs of inflammation. I have done like 3 rounds of antibiotics, switched to the anti inflammatory diet, tried o exercise more... Also the immunology test showed that I have a high inflammatory response (high nk cells) I really don t know what else to do, it is all so frustrating... I would just like to get to see the second line.. never happened to me, seems like it is never going to happen
You have some answers, so it is a matter of time until it happens! Don’t lose hope … come on !
Have you been on Zumenon ? I am currently on Zumenon, since day 2 of my period. Now a few days past, starting to have the mucus / a litre egg white mucus like my body is preparing for ovulation. Last cocker was cancelled while taking Zumenon because I had a big follicle ! Now I am worried that it is happening again!
Zumenon can also increase discharge but how am I going ti know if is the medication or again another follicle..!
We are both drained from this honestly. Plus the clinic is far away from where I live.
Hey! Soooorry for the late response! I have been on Progynova, I understand that is more or less the same, so basically estrogen. The hormone storm is terrible as well... Oh well, baby dust to all of us, there are so few things that we can control... It is a frustrating, freightening and unfair process for so many of us, it is so easy to lose hope...
Hey there! Currently on a rollercoaster, Monday is my OTD after the last transfer. Dreading it, actually. We have followed the era results this time, full pack immune protocol i.e. intralipid, high dose prednisone and prograf... How was your era result, how are you doing?
Hi Anita good luck for tomorrow 🤞🏽 I am currently preparing for my era test and wondered what the adjustment was made for a day three embryo transfer because that is what my consultant is planning to transfer on my next go. Did you have a day 3 transfer? If so how were the days adapted after era recommendation? X
Hey there! For starters it depends if the ERA showed you receptive, pre receptive or post receptive at 5.5 days.
So my story is the following: I did ERA at 126 hours of progesterone, it showed me post receptive, so I basically needed less hours of progesterone. My dr decided to do the transfer 20 hours before.
Now the catch was I had 3 day embryos this time, so this basically meant that I did my transfer at 58 h of progesterone (I started on Wednesday 4 am and had my transfer at about 2 pm on Friday). This means at 106 h of progesterone if I had a 5day embryo transferred.
Of course I have no idea if it worked, because I have my OTD tomorrow and I am really nervous about it, being as it is my 5th transfer.. All of them have been clear, undoubted BFN (beta lower than 0.2). I also have endometriosis, been fighting endometritis for 2 years and chronic inflammation, plus high NK cells and high pro-inflammatory cells in my uterus... so who knows what is the real cause and if it is ever going to happen...
I heard that ERA tests can really help to increase the chances, that is what I need considering that no other major problems exist. I will find out this week what the ERA said maybe
Hey there! Quick and sad update from today, it is negative. I will redo the Endometrio tests, as I strongly believe that my main problem is the endometrium, I suffer from chronic inflammation, none of my hysteroscopies have been ok. Endometriosis, chronic endometritis and some immune issues, if I did not have those, I do believe that ERA would have helped me get my positive
oh no …! Oh I am sorry for that. I mean …. It is so heart breaking really, I know - such a frustration ! It would have helped as well to know that it had worked for you.
Thank you so much! Yes, we will keep trying what else can we do? I have also tested kir hlac, we are waiting for the results, I got in touch with an endo coach, to help me with the inflammation... trying to do everything that is under our control to make this work. Baby dust to everyone!
My endo is silent, I have no symptoms at all, my periods are short, the flow is low, no pain, no cramps whatsoever. I suffer from constipation, but that could be caused by more things.
really no pain ..?! I wonder if that is the reason for me nit getting pregnant. but nobody ever thought about it. I have regular periods and no pain, I do workouts on my day 1 without no problems.
Yes, no symptoms at all, even if I have a 5cm endometrioma on my left ovary, bilateral hydrosalpinx and also endo lesions on the uterus, as they saw during my lap surgery
I am also planning to do an endo MRI to see exactly where and how extended are the endo lesions in my pelvic area, especially after all the IVF treatments I ve been through. So yes if I were you, I would check for endo and inflammation as well, endometritis. Did you have a hysteroscopy?
