ERA - fresh or frozen

Hi ladies, I'm just about to start my ERA cycle and we're heading straight in to a fresh stims cycle immediately after. If my ERA results show pre/post receptive, will they be able to use this information if we are doing a fresh transfer? Or does this only apply to FETs? I'd really love to get a fresh transfer in before Christmas (we've never been able to do that before, only FET) but if the results show I need more / less progesterone, would it be worth waiting for the new year and an FET instead? xx

Hi Millbanks. This is usually done in a fresh cycle, but I suppose it could be done with a frozen one too. Check with your clinic for clarity. Good luck! Diane

That is a good question I must admit. As far as I understood ERA is applicable for frozen transfers but I might be wrong. I did it as well and I am preparing now for FET. Fresh transfers are usually done between day 2 to day 5. Fresh transfers on day 6 are rarely happening and should be avoided, so I think in fresh transfers it doesn’t matter your ERA test result as you will go for day 5 transfer anyway (this is my logical way of thinking). Also other thing to mention is that the clinic told us that our embryos are reaching blastocyst stage on day 6 so they wouldn’t have been transferred them on day 6, this is in case you are wondering if you are post receptive.

Yes that makes sense - that is what I thought too, but I wanted to check :) xx

I like fresh transfers anyway feels more natural way of getting pregnant comparing with frozen transfers. I did 2 fresh in the past and ended in biochemical pregnancy’s so now I am looking forward to the frozen one.

Hope your ERA test will come back as “receptive” just like mine and all doubts will go away. By the way 70% of the women are receptive so 🤞

Good luck lovely ❤️

I’ve only ever heard of doing a frozen cycle after ERA but I may be wrong. They have to line everything up exactly the same as in the ERA cycle re progesterone administration and timing so I don’t know how it would work the same way in fresh.

Either way, it’s great you’re doing it. I honestly think that it helped me with the last FET #5.

Thank you - I hope it does give us some answers. I'm a bit torn about what to do with the transfers, but I'm definitely counting my chickens as we've not even had stims or egg collection yet! xx

It’s good to have a plan, I get it! Fingers crossed ERA will be useful and you can apply the results to your next transfer xx

Hi lovely, yes they can use the information for a fresh cycle BUT sometimes all the medications during a fresh can cause a premature progesterone rise (which can set you out of ideal sync), but they will try their best to use the information for the fresh cycle too. They can start you on the progesterone a day earlier / later on a fresh just like on a frozen xx

Thanks hun, that’s really helpful! That’s what happened last time so we have to freeze all as we were out of sync xxx

No problem! Sorry that happened last time, it's so frustrating isn't it! Hopefully you'll be able to do a fresh transfer this time xx

I’d really like to as I’ve only ever had frozen ones so would at least like to try! Xxx

Mine will be a frozen one. I think we are on similar timings. I will get ERA results mid Nov and have 3 frozen PGS tested embryos in Czech Republic. I emailed the clinic today to see when their earliest transfer could be. Not sure how xmas and travelling will play out this year. Tempted to leave it till Jan. Dont need tje added stress over Xmas.
