My Day 3 update is that out of my 3 fertilised embryos only 2 are looking good, both with 8 cells.
I know that there is usually a 50% drop from D3 to D5, but has anybody had all of their day 3’s make it to day 5 & on to a pregnancy?

Just wanting to send you a hug and good luck wishes for your day 3's to continue to grow
Thinking of you

Try not to stress out about the 'normal stats'. It sounds like your embryos are just where they should be for now. if you think about it when they talk about drop out rates etc it is across all embryos, so includes those that were looking really bad on day 3 that didn't make it to day 5. Yours sound in the best shape they could be. I didn't always have a 50% drop off and I know a lot of people who have had 100% continuation from day 3 to 5! heaps of luck xx
thank you, exactly the type of positivity I need x
Hello! We had all three of our fertilised ones from Day 1 progress to Day 5 and Day 6 so it is definitely possible. Daisy1245 made a wonderful point there about stats going across all levels of perceived quality so try and keep up the faith, they are looking strong on Day 3 so have every potential to make it to Day 5 and be your baby! We have two embryos suitable for transfer, we are going for a modified natural FET in March! Wishing you so much luck! X
thank you. Fingers crossed.
We have decided to do a freeze all & do PGT-A testing prior to any transfer.
I’ve had 1 birth, but also 1 miscarriage & 1 implantation failure, so we want to try reduce that heartache from the start. Our daughter was a PGT-A passed embie, so just hoping these 2 pass too. x
I am in a very similar boat, we also PGT-A tested our embryos and did the Endo Quartet to give ourselves the best chance of success after multiple back-to-back miscarriages. My Emma/Alice tests came back clear so most likely our issues stem from chromosomal abnormalities (we're both considered to be of advanced age). This is going to be our very first transfer. It is so encouraging to hear that you had success with your PGT-A tested embryos in the past! Keep us posted on your progress! And all the best of luck! X
this is our 5th cycle. We have tested every day 5/6 embryo. I think all in we have had 7 tested (I think).
Cycle 2 was our best to date. We sent 4 for testing. 2 came back good.
1:1 - transferred first & is our daughter (21 months)
1:2 - slightly lower grade, it was a day 6. We transferred. It implanted, but at 6 week scan it had split in 3!!! No fetal poles. I miscarried at 7 weeks.
I had 1 (too small to test) embryo transferred after cycle 3&4 (back to back) but it didn’t implant.
It was a tough call whether to test this time. If it’s going to be negative news I had to decide if I wanted it over the phone or on a pregnancy test or scan. My husband thought the pre testing was better, so I’ve mailed the clinic & hopefully tomorrow they will be sending 2 for testing.
I am 41, I was 39 when we done our daughters transfer, and 39 when we done her cycle.
When is your transfer? I hope it all goes to plan. Don’t forget to stop for McDonalds chips on the way home. Old wives tale but it’s a goodie lol x
I completely understand why you and your husband want to eliminate as many risk factors as possible if you think this is likely going to be your last transfer. I'm keeping everything crossed that you will get two good quality blastocysts that can be biopsied and sent off for testing. Oh my, it could have been triplets at your second transfer! I suppose that's one thing to be mindful of when you request two PGT-A tested embryos to be transferred, your chance/risk of a multiple pregnancy (and by that I don't only mean twins) is so much higher. Personally, I couldn't cope with the even higher levels of anxiety throughout pregnancy but I also wanted to have a back up plan in case the first transfer doesn't work. We only have these two embryos and won't be doing any more cycles (I am days away from 44 and my partner is 58). My consultant strongly recommended to only put back 1 at a time, she doesn't believe in the grading so much as the euploid status, in her mind every PGT-A tested embryo will give you a roughly 80% chance of success if you've ruled out uterine and immune factors (or are being treated for them). We like to cling on to stats but at the end of the day it is very much out of our control, isn't it, once we've done all our tests and prep all we can do is hope that we will be blessed with a healthy pregnancy and get to hold our baby. Try and stay positive, I know how challenging that can be, you will know very soon!
In case you don't get any blastocysts that are deemed safe to test, would they allow you to do a fresh transfer if you wanted this? x
can I ask how many you had tested and how many were normal? I’ve just sent mines off yesterday eek. X
Oh fingers crossed for you, Poop84! We sent off 5 for testing and 2 came back deemed euploid. We did not have any mosaic ones, my three remaining ones came back as complex aneuploid. I feel we got very lucky for our respective ages (44/58), my consultant certainly was pleasantly surpised at the results as she had prepared us that based on our investigations and recurrent loss history we would probably need 10-12 sent off for testing before we get one euploid embryo. X
I never got a 3 day update but I did have 4 out of my 5 embryos make it to day 5. Currently 34 weeks pregnant with one of them! It can happen so have hope. Good luck xx
hi I’m hoping this results in good news for you
I haven’t had a transfer yet for my cycles. But every day three has always got to blastocyst for me. Good luck lots of love x
Hi!
I’ve done 4 extractions so far. From my own personal experience. Drop off rate is the highest Day 1-3.
Most of those that made it to day 3 persisted till day 5 and were subsequently frozen.
Good luck!
