Has anyone taken prolutex injections for progesterone? Or other injections for progesterone levels?

My clinic has advised I take prolutex injections to get my progesterone at a more stable level after my failed FET. Does anyone have experience with prolutex or other injections for progesterone?

Hiya, yes, I've taken prolutex for progesterone. Not a problem at all. Not sure what your concerns are, but am happy to answer any questions you may have

Hello, Thank you for getting back to me. Did it help with your progesterone levels? I have read some mixed reviews online. I'm on Prolutex now (two injections in) and really struggling as I find them painful. Have you had any success? :)

Hiya. I was originally prescribed pessaries, but blood tests revealed my body didn't absorb it as well so was moved to injections. I've had both lubion injections, and prolutex. They're basically the same thing, just a different name.I didn't have my levels checked again, but from the successful cycles I've done, using the injections, I have a 3yo daughter and am currently pregnant with twins. Neither time did I bleed early so clearly my progesterone levels were good.

My advice is to inject really, really slowly! And warm the vial up a bit before using. A few people on this forum suggested popping it in your bra for 10 mins before doing which helped me. Lastly, I'd say vary the places you do it and it really does get easier with practice. I had some awful bruises a few times, but after a while got much better and it didn't hurt anymore.

Best of luck! Xx

Hello Livinginhope101,Thank you for you message. I've used crinone and lutinus and both times I bleed very early (day 10 and day 5). So this time I really wanted to do something different. Makes me very hopeful now going into my 4th round that maybe it was can successful hearing stories like yours.

Thank you for your advice, I will definitely try that. I didnt mind the other injections but was struggling with this one (I'm only on day 3 so felt a long way too go 😅).

hi I was on duphaston 10mg *2 morning 8 am and evening @ 8 pm. Then menopur 75mg * 3 injections daily for 4 days and 75mg *2 for 3 days before my egg collection. My progestrone levels went from 0.4 to 7.4.

Hello KediT, thank you for getting back to me. Why did you take progesterone before your egg collection? Is that common? I've only taken it after egg collection or after the uterus line had thickened. 3 injections a day is a lot, did you take them in your stomach?

I wish I knew but I can tell you that my transfer was cancelled because my progesterone level was considered to be high for a frozen transfer. Yes was injecting them on the tummy. It is so confusing & frustrating I must say bcoz I see ppl on this forum using it only afterwards like you. Planning to even do IUI instead of another egg collection becauae we had a male factor issue initially

I guess all clinics do it a little different, but they should be able to explain the process and why they do it certain way. I wish I would have tried a few more IUI before going down the IVF route because its such an emotional ride and very rough on the medication side.

Hi,

I’ve had lubion and prontogest (intermuscular) injection.

Is prolutex similar to prontogest or like lubion (abdomen area)

Re: lubion, I always warm the vial up, inject slowly and press down on the area afterwards, massaging very slightly for a few minutes to help disperse the lubion.

Hello Rol81, thank you for getting back to me. The doctors have advise me to take the injections in my stomach but probably the type if medication. Did you see a progesterone improvement with the injections?

I’ve always taken both injections and pessaries.

Tbh I’m not completely sure of the stats but I don’t think studies show either are better or produce better outcome.

But for me personally I would always have injected progesterone. It’s just maybe psychological that I know it’s defo going in and been absorbed.

I know not all clinic prescribe both but mine have always advised both.

Hello, you're right it's probably very individual as well. I started bleeding so early last time so just so scared it will happen again.

I'm taking 25mg prolutex and crinone 3x day.

So injections and pessary (not sure exactly what crinone classifies as).

That’s great , you are doing all you can and giving it the best chance . That’s all you can do within your control .

Perseverance with those stupid injections.

I used prolutex for my transfer. They are a little stingy going in but just injecting slowly really helps. Good luck.xxx

Hello Cinderella5, I've really noticed that, and I'm pretty sore. Will try and do it slower and maybe more controlled. I'm not good with injections and the first time I'm going to have to take them myself. So scary.

You'll be an expert very soon. Yes they are a little nippy. I used to rub the area afterwards gently as I used to get a little lump and that helped too.xx

I get that as well, will try and rub it afterwards. Thank you for replying. Feels better to know others have had the same issues xx

Hi, I've taken lubion for an FET. They were a bit stingy at first but once I got used to them it was fine. I've also used progesterone in oil for another FET and I had to get my husband to do those because they are intramuscular injections. I much preferred using the lubion because I didn't have to rely on anyone to inject them for me.

Did you find any success with the additional progesterone injections? X

I've not had success yet, but I don't believe it's been anything to do with my progesterone levels. My progesterone levels were good with the lubion, pessaries and suppositories I was also taking. X
