Anyone know about progesterone injection

Hi ladies

I had a miscarriage this week and when the gynecologist took my pregestron level it wasn't high enough

I feel the passeries didn't get absorbed well

That's why am asking if anyone used progesteron injection since am planning to go for my next cycle

I will be greatful

Im so sorry for your loss. I cant help with the injection thing but I asked about this after having bleeding during my 2ww on the NHS. Apparently the progesterone injections are pretty nippy. My new clinic upped my progesterone dose for my next cycle and I didnt get a BFP but I didnt bleed so I think I just needed a higher dose. Do you know how much progesterone you were getting? I went from taking crinone gel which is 90mg of gel twice a day to 800mg in the private sector (2x400mg tablets vaginally per day). I would discuss with your clinic to see if you can take more and if they can monitor your levels to check that your levels are optimal.xx

You might be right all in my mind was it didn't absorb well not thinking about the dose !! I will discuss this with my ivf doctor and take it from there

I was a bit wary that upping the dose wouldnt work but it did, still didnt get a BFP but levels must have been much better. Might be worth a conversation anyway....my new clinic even said that if I had any hint of bleeding (due to my previous history) that I could go up to 1200mg (3x400mg per day). My NHS clinic said it wasnt possible that my levels were too low....just shows what they knew!xx

My ivf doctor he told me after he found out about my miscarriage that probably I didn't use my passaries correctly I was so disappointed by his answer .who would want this for himself after all this hard time I wouldn't be lazy to do my suppository

Exactly and how flipping insensitive......makes me so angry when Drs throw flippant comments out like this, so annoyed for you! Stick to your guns and tell them exactly that, ask what dose you were on and can they put it up.xx

Am so worried I had mild Ohss I don't know if this contributed to my BFP or not

I still have two frosties . Don't know if I should use one or two since I had BFP with one fresh . So worried and confused about it all

I have heard of ladies having mild OHSS and getting a BFP but it could just be coincidence. I have always chosen to put two back due to the fact that I feel like I could cope if it resulted in a multiple birth however this comes with its own risks. Its a massively personal decision to make and only you can make it, you would have to ask yourself if both took then how would you feel and do you think you could manage with two or more....physically, mentally and financially.xx

I don't mind two I just always had bfn with two or three ambies

This is the first time I had put one and got my BFP am totally shocked

May be womb can't take more than one

Hi LadyMM so sorry to hear this 😢 what pessaries were you on and how many? They should have tested your blood after a few days of taking them to ensure absorption levels...that’s what my clinic does. The injections are v effective but also v painful especially if you’re a smaller build. I gave up after 2 days as I basically couldn’t move and Cyclogest twice daily absorbed well and i’m in my 40s x

Hi. I’m so sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I had intramuscular progesterone injections this cycle and am now 13 weeks pregnant. The evidence for them is not great in terms of how much more they are absorbed than pessaries.

They are a little painful but were not as bad as I thought they would be. I trained my husband to give them. You do get a very lumpy bum and they make you very tired (stupidly tired) but I got through it. I am a size 12 in bottom (10 on top) so not sure whether that made a difference to pain.

Another option would be to have subcutaneous injections which are less painful or get your progesterone levels tested but best to discuss with your clinic. I’m sure you did your pessaries fine!! What an insensitive thing to say.

I’ve been using Lubion which is the subcutaneous injection for this round. I have found these much better than the pessaries and I’ve been told by other people that they are less painful than the intramuscular injections. I did find that it felt like a bruise where I had injected into my stomach for the rest of the day but I was given some advice to massage the injection area a bit after injecting which definitely helps and I’ve not any pain at all since doing that. Overall I would recommend them but they are a lot more expensive than the pessaries but for me it was worth paying the extra.

Will find out if they worked tomorrow on my test day 🤞

I have also used Lubion sub cutaneous injections and although they are a little sore (and much more expensive!) I feel they worked much better for me than the crinone gel. It made me feel better to know that the medication was actually going in. I did get a bfp but very sadly miscarried at 11 weeks. I would plan to use Lubion again on our next cycle.
