use of clomid for polystic type ovaries for lady who ovulates

hello all,

sorry for posting again so soon, but you ladies are super helpful 💜 and help me work things through in my mind.

so I had a first consultation with a clinic in Greece today. The consultant suggested that as I produce lots of eggs but they tend to be poor quality then I have polystic type ovaries. The protocol she suggested was clomid tablets alone, perhaps with low dose menopur added.t he intention is to produce better quality embryos to freeze. She said I might hope for 10 but I'm a bit sceptical.

i will follow up with some queries with her, but I'm trying to work it all out.

i know I ovulate as I get positive ovulation test surges each month, so I'm puzzled as I thought clomid was for if you didn't ovulate.

has anyone used clomid for stimulation when you ovulate?

hope all is well with everyone

Dear Orangeflowers, I am 43 at the moment and I do ovulate, but was put on Clomid to give it a boost, because my body is struggling (due to age). Unfortunately it didn’t worked out for my. But my ovulation tests were “more positive” then when I’m not taking clomid. Hope this helps. Loads of luck 🍀

Thank you. That is good to know. I can see the rationale of why you were prescribed it. I always get positives on the ovulation tests so I presumed my ovulation was ok...

HiI am sorry I don't have any information but a question if that's OK.

Would this be a protocol for egg collection or for trying naturally?

It's a protocol I got from a clinic in Greece for egg collection and freezing resultant embryos. It's really confusing me as, as you say, clomid seems to more generally be used to promote ovulation in a natural cycle. I have queried it. Just looking for some experiences as it seems unusual. It was recommended to improve egg quality...

I think this type of medication is used in mild or modified natural ivf protocols if you look them up. And the idea behind mild and modified natural is quality over quantity.

Thank you so much, that would make sense. I tried looking it up but I couldn't find reference to the type of drugs they use in those protocols and the clinic didn't describe it with those terms

I am not sure to be honest. I thought I had read it somewhere but I can't find it now. Hopefully the clinic should be able to clarify. I would be interested in hearing what they will say.

All the best!
