I have done 3 months worth of (50mg) clomid and I am still not ovulating. I have just picked up my prescription for my second round of it (100mg) for 3 months but have also been told I am being referred to the midland fertility clinic. Has anyone else experienced the same and what happened next? Thanks x

Hi, I had exactly the same - I didn't respond on the lower or higher dose. I ended up having ovarian drilling (keyhole surgery to basically shake up the ovaries). That alone didn't make me ovulate but I started clomid again and now ovulate with it. Good luck with the higher dose, hopefully you'll respond, but the op is something to consider x
Thankyou, good luck to you too! Was it a fertility clinic that recommended the ovarian drilling to you or was that something your local hospital arranged? I’m just unsure how many other options are open to me through the clinic before it gets to the stage if ivf etc? I thought I would be offered more from my local hospital before I got referred to a fertility clinic x
The op was all done at my NHS hospital (Kingston). I'm also on metformin. Do you have pcos? It's supposed to help. I'm not convinced but willing to give anything a go. If the clomid doesn't work, there's iui (though my consultant doesn't recommend this for me) and then final resort for me is ivf. I'm ovulating and did get pregnant but had an early miscarriage and since then really struggling. Think I'll be doing ivf later this year. Oh there's also tamoxifen- though not all NHS hospitals offer it (I wasn't) - it's actually a drug for breast cancer but is meant to work in the same way as clomid x
I’ve had an ultrasound scan plus a transvaginal ultrasound, I was told that it all appeared to be ok so they don’t know why I’m not ovulating, then was given the clomid to try! Ive had no scans or blood tests for the best part of 12 months so i just thought my hospital would have done more for me before sending me off to the fertility clinic but it probably differs from area to area x
Yeah it's crazy how areas are different. You'd think there would be a standard under the NHS! I found my consultant wasn't very forthcoming with the order of things to try before ivf. There's no harm in you asking...good luck! Xx
I didn’t ovulate on clomid for a while so also got put on metformin which is originally used for diabetes but can also be used for ovulation. When I was put on both the clomid worked again for me. I had been on the clomid again for a while though . Xx
I feel like the hospital have hardly done anything for me before pushing me off to the fertility clinic. All I’ve had is 2 rounds of clomid and she’s said there’s nothing more they can do for me ☹️ xx
