Trying to conceive in perimenopause

I am struggling to find any posts that mirror my story as it is a right now. Has anyone in perimenopause or with POI managed to conceive and how did you manage to do this? I have a very sudden onset of all of the perimenopausal symptoms in the midst of trying to conceive. My FSH and LH are both very high, and my oestrogen and testosterone low. I’m waiting on repeat blood tests now and feel incredible despair that my hopes are dashed 😔

Hi lovely,

My sister in law has 2 children from IVF due to early peri menopause.

Was there something specific that you wanted to know or just that it has worked for others?

Xx

Just looking to hear from anyone whose been in a similar situation I guess. It’s good to hear your sister in law had success, did she have a high FSH and low oestrogen for them to diagnose her with perimenopause?

Once you get the 2nd results maybe the clinic you are attending for these tests can advice you what your next step should be . Thinking of you

I’m already booked in to see a menopause doctor, it’s the symptoms as much as the blood tests that are worrying

Sorry to hear this MontsJ. I've been so regular up to the point I signed for IVF and then my period took 40 days to return (GP say it could be your age and perimenapause). We're still going ahead with IVF as the clinic dont seem to think its an issue (but maybe its a money thing to them) - I do hope they are right but I'm fully aware the chances are low but worth a shot. Someone to talk to in a similar position would be super helpful (PM me). Good luck everyone 🤗

They would have checked your FSH, LH and oestrogen to be happy to going ahead. My FSH was over 60, which having had IVF before is a big no for them. I hope you get on well, do you have an idea when your first cycle will be?

Yeah they check FSH and LH but not oestrogen - apparently all within range for 46 years of age. I wasn't sure about the whole menopause thing (its back of my mind but thought I had a few more years). The IVF clinic don't seem to be worried - I don't know if thats cause we're private know that we desperate (hence going for 5% success rate) or if its actually ok. I start taking Microgynon on Friday this week for 2 weeks - then hopefully its all systems go.
